As LIV Golf make another big signing, we want to revisit some work we did toward the end of their first season (https://lnkd.in/eambNZfk) Whilst opinion was clearly polarised at that time, according to our research, we now wonder if this has changed. New big name signings like Jon Rahm and now Tyrell Hatton from the PGA TOUR clearly gain attention. How has your opinion on LIV changed with time? A key part of this work looked at whether businesses should considering sponsoring LIV Golf members. It is work like this that Gather Collective members value as we help them navigate the golf business landscape. Our subscribers gain access to digests of these work to help them stay up to date with developments in our industry. #golfindustry #golfbusiness #golfmarketing

Some traditions are meant to be challenged. In 1970, a round of golf took 3 hours and 10 minutes. Today? We're looking at 5+ hours on the course. That's not progress - that's a problem. My solution? A shot clock: - 40 seconds for regular shots - 60 seconds for putts Will this ruffle some feathers in the golf community? Absolutely. But sometimes, challenging the status quo is exactly what the game needs. At Madison Green, we believe in preserving golf's elegance while eliminating what holds it back. Because tradition doesn't have to mean slow. What's your take on implementing a shot clock in golf? #GolfInnovation #FutureOfGolf #PlayFast #MadisonGreenOfficial #BeYou

This is a great example of how synthetic turf seamlessly integrates into a golf course, enhancing both aesthetics and playability. The synthetic tees not only offer players a consistently high-quality playing surface for years but also contribute to cost savings for the club by reducing necessary inputs. The technology behind synthetic turf has advanced to a point where there is next to no distinction between the two - it is merely a perception issue that golfers don't seem to accept synthetic turf. This will change with more projects like this.
The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, Michigan is set to open in the spring of 2024 with a 7-hole par-3 golf course featuring 21 tee boxes, forward, middle, and back using SYNLawn’s premium Tee Strike artificial turf. The trend of millennials moving to private golf communities, once unlikely due to declining interest in the sport among younger generations, is on the rise. This surprising shift gained momentum during the pandemic, with the National Golf Foundation reporting a record number of rounds played in 2023. Trending with this growing demand, Saltleaf Golf Preserve by London Bay has introduced an all-new public course in Bonita Springs, just a short drive from one of the country's golfing capitals: Naples, FL. Fully reimagined from its members-only roots as Raptor Bay Golf Club, Saltleaf Golf Preserve offers a public play, daily fee model, welcoming golfers of all ages to enjoy not just one, but two courses. While there, players experience the allure of the surrounding Saltleaf community, which includes a marina, nature trails, and 224 luxury condominiums at The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Estero Bay. Could golf be the key to driving residential sales in the neighborhood? Keep reading The Wall Street Journal below:

Very interesting read. Still see some parallels from 1967 to today.
Looking back to the May 1967 issue of Golfdom, a Minnesota superintendent shares his thoughts on the “golf course superintendent supply squeeze.” 👇🏻
