It's a simple but powerful reminder: inclusion starts with awareness. When planning events, it's crucial to consider the diversity of your audience. This post from Femily Howe highlights how a small oversight—like scheduling during a major holiday—can easily be avoided with just a bit of thoughtfulness and allyship. Let’s keep pushing for more inclusive decisions that respect everyone's backgrounds and traditions. https://buff.ly/4cVJkSH #InclusionMatters #Allyship #Inclusion #Diversity #Leadership #DEI #HR #Communication #EmotionalIntelligence #HelpingPeopleWorkBetterTogether

Executive Coach & DEI Consultant| Human-Centered Design Expert| Speaker| Strategic Planning Guru| I help companies take strategic action to improve culture and data around employee engagement and belonging.
Have you ever Googled yourself with your friends, or have your friends Googled you and shown you random embarrassing content? My friend sent me this video that I had completely forgotten about the other day. My first reaction was OMG what am I saying, why and I talking like that, but Allen Iverson was and still is fine lol. Then I was grateful that at 22 years old, I interviewed the legendary Coach C. Vivian Stringer. So I used. through my embarrassment and watched the video. One thing I found that is still true is my unyielding support for women of color. My 22-year-old imagination did not know I would be a business owner or an executive coach. What I did know and still believe to be true is that women of color have to deal with systemic inequities and deserve unique and customized support. - Women of color deserve to work in environments that are inclusive, respectful, and supportive of their identities and experiences. - Women of color deserve to see themselves represented in leadership positions within their organizations. - Women of color deserve support to balance their professional and personal responsibilities We deserve this and more, and organizations need to prioritize supporting our unique needs so that we can thrive. Employers can start supporting women of color by: - Prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to create a sense of belonging for all employees and combat workplace discrimination and harassment. - Promoting diversity in leadership and decision-making roles to reflect their workforce's diverse perspectives and experiences. - Promoting flexible work arrangements, parental leave policies, and access to childcare can help women of color achieve work-life balance and advance in their careers without sacrificing their well-being. Interested in supporting women of color in your organization? Sponsor them in joining the Authentically Me Fellowship! Learn more here: bit.ly/AMFCohort7Spring https://lnkd.in/eB4KM7Zn

Mistakes are inevitable right? That seems to be the phrase of choice at the moment. At Beyond Equality a lot of our work is centered around learning what you don't know and then doing better. People often come into our workshops with anxiety and can hold back. Why? Because they're worried they're making a mistake. But if the King of Keynotes can slip up on vocab, then the chances are that you will too. Recovering from those mistakes is the work. That's what we're here to support you doing, together, in your organisation or team. Using inclusive language isn't an overnight process after decades of doing and saying the same things because it seemed like the right thing. When we listen to the voices around us we can actively learn, acknowledge, apologise and grow so that everyone feels comfortable. If you're unsure, well just watch Ben Hurst show you how. Want to bring inclusive conversations to your workplace? Book onto one of our programs today. 📩 E-mail: kasey@beyondequality.org (Kasey Robinson) 🌐 Website: www.Beyondequality.org This footage was taken from the Male Allyship Network Program that we have been running with a dedicated group of men in Plymouth, UK. This group was the first to pilot our program two years ago and the success of the program speaks for itself. We will be sharing more insights soon.

No matter how many times we say First Peoples First or update our Diversity Access and Inclusion Plans, if we don’t walk the talk around cultural safety, our organisations will continue to re-center whiteness and white privilege. And we can do better. Founder and Managing Director at Open Inclusion | Chair MRS Unlimited | MRS EDI Changemaker of the Year 2024
Wearing my hat as co-chair of MRS Unlimited I would love to invite my friends and connections who are researchers, research buyers and insight leaders to complete a short survey that Open Inclusion sponsored and designed along with the wonderful MRS Unlimited Steering Group. We wish to better understand the views of people working in research around disability-inclusive awareness, attitudes and skills, both current and desired. This relates to inclusive research design for participants to improve the quality and completeness of our insight, and inclusive workplaces to empower our teams. It has just been launched and will remain open until 15 September. The survey can be found here - https://lnkd.in/edca8VJR The survey seeks to garner a breadth of perspectives from those who conduct or support quantitative, qualitative or mixed research approaches in the UK and globally. The insights generated will help us prioritise our efforts to support progress across the market research industry. Please share this link to the survey with your team and other researchers that you know. Your insights will help ensure future MRS Unlimited activities better align to your needs. Those who complete the survey can also opt in to receive a summary analysis of the results of the survey and an invite to a webinar sharing them later in the year. You can also sign up to the MRS Unlimited Mailing List here (https://lnkd.in/ekGuXaD2) to hear about future webinars, new resources and events.
