Professor-Civil & Environ Eng, Director-Atmos/Energy Program at Stanford U; Co-founder-Solutions Project & 100% Movement
The scientific consensus is that 100% renewables, with no new nuclear and with no fossil fuels, is the solution to global warming, air pollution, and energy security. https://lnkd.in/gwCX6JEB https://lnkd.in/g8aA9hzs And despite all the proposals to build nuclear over the years, world output of nuclear electricity was 2.5% lower in 2023 than in 2004 because, despite all its subsidy and hype, new nuclear takes too long to plan/build, is far more expensive than, and has far higher energy security risks than 100% renewables. https://lnkd.in/gZVJMRTD

I feel like he understood the assignment. A few years ago, I read the Bill Gates book on addressing climate change and thought it was simplistic and not likely to be effective. After two days of seeing and hearing what Breakthrough Energy is working towards, I get it: they are investing in more than 100 companies to innovate in agriculture, buildings, transportation, and yes, energy, to specifically address the root causes of climate change. Bill Gates is personally putting his credibility and capital on the line to bring together the smartest and most powerful people in the world to work towards this goal. We must incrementally make progress with what we have now that we know works, while making room for innovations that could follow. Also, this cannot be done in a way that leads to deprivation, but contributes to prosperity and thriving communities around the world. This has never felt more timely than this week, when most of the U.S. and the UK suffered through extraordinary heat, which is more than just a day at the beach - it’s impacting the ability to grow food; displacing populations where it is too hot to live, causing immigration, which is leading to social upheaval; leading to flooding of major cities, which in turn will impoverish millions; and on and on. This is not an environmental calamity; it also an economic and social catastrophe. Bill Gates made an extraordinary global fortune and now he is seeking to address an extraordinary global challenge. He is punching up in his goals in his effort to leave the world a better place. As a human, Bill Gates understood the assignment. Onward. #besummit24

The news and deployments on AI and data centers todays that would be the valued reasons for Renewables developments, supplies as the huge demands up to 4-6 times typically compared to the traditional data centers. #Power #AI #G7renewables
With artificial intelligence (AI) poised to revolutionize industries, data center operators are seeking solutions to meet the power demands of high-density AI environments. We are supporting the transformation, rapidly deploying advanced power distribution and protection solutions across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. 🌍 Our groundbreaking HiPerGuard medium voltage UPS system shows the way forward: 💡 An innovative solution: HiPerGuard is designed specifically for mission-critical facilities. It combines high power density with alternative grid power sources, ensuring reliable performance even under intense AI workloads. ⚡ Energy efficiency: AI servers demand 4-8 times more power than conventional servers. To address this, data centers are upgrading their critical power infrastructure. HiPerGuard’s switch to medium voltage protection improves power usage efficiency (PUE) and resilience. 📈 Resilience and simplicity: By placing the UPS at the substation level, data centers simplify their low-voltage infrastructure. This approach minimizes cooling requirements and enhances load surge management. ➡️ For the full article: https://lnkd.in/e6xQ2JrG
