Too often people think that trans+ people have hardly made any films. In fact, trans+ people have created thousands of films spanning various genres such as horror, comedy, romance, documentary, animation, drama, and more. They’re just hard to find. That’s where the Transgender Media Portal comes in! https://buff.ly/4dh05rM The Transgender Media Portal is similar to IMDb but it’s exclusively focused on highlighting the work of trans+* creators. Jump through the Portal to explore thousands of trans-made films, television shows, and online videos! You can search for media created by specific types of artists, like “comedy films by trans Indigenous artists,” or “music videos by Black transfeminine artists.” While we don’t host the films ourselves, we provide links to where you can watch them–whether it’s through streaming services, on DVD, or in an archive. Their primary focus is on artists from Turtle Island (North America), but we also feature creators from other regions. We are particularly enthusiastic about showcasing the works of Black, Indigenous, POC (people of color), intersex, and disability+ filmmakers. Learn why we highlight these filmmakers on our site here. The Transgender Media Portal is an ongoing project developed by a dedicated team of student scholars, artists, designers, and developers at the Transgender Media Lab at Carleton University, which is situated on the unceded territory of the Algonquin Nations, known colonially as Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. #handy #rights #filmmakers #disability+ #indiefilm #filmfamily #

If you're part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community or an ally and are interested in queer art, this post is for you! 😊🌈✨ Me and my partner have created a Substack for the queer art community, named Pride Palette 🏳️🌈🎨 If you're not familiar with Substack, it contains many different newsletters of various topics you can sign up to receive. For Pride Palette, we have a free tier, as well as a few paid options, starting at only $7/month. We'd love for you to sign up and help support two queer artists highlighting and uplifting the lives and works of other queer artists! 💖🌈✨ So far, we've released two articles: one fully free, and one for paid users (free users can see a preview). Each month, we'll cover one contemporary/modern queer artist (for paid subscribers), and one historical queer artist for all subscribers! As this Substack grows, so will our content! 1st contemporary artist: Demian DinéYazhi’ is a Diné non-binary and trans multidisciplinary artist, whose work centers around the entangled relationships between land, Native cultures, and colonial, capitalist economic and political systems. 1st historical artist: David Wojnarowicz was a fiery & highly influential queer multimedia artist, writer, and political activist known for his deeply personal and provocative style. So, if you are a queer artist or just generally interested in learning more about often overlooked queer art and artists, Pride Palette will have something for you! Feel free to check it out (and subscribe) here: https://lnkd.in/gAbqgCxX We hope you'll subscribe and enjoy learning more about queer art all in one space 🌈✨ Disclaimer: Pride Palette is a safe space for marginalized communities, therefore there it is no place for harmful or hateful rhetoric. It is the responsibility of all parties in discussion in this space to engage respectfully. Also, no AI-generated content will be shared or promoted as part of the Pride Palette newsletter. Artists and creatives deserve better than dedicating hours of their time only to have their work stolen. #supporthumanartists #pridepalette #substack #queerart #queer #lgbtqia2s #lgbtqia #lgbt #art #newsletter

'Get Who Gets You lesbian LP' is a phrase that conveys the idea of finding a connection with music that resonates with one's identity as a lesbian. https://lnkd.in/ga6amt6j #PaidPartner This could mean seeking out music created by and for the lesbian community, or simply finding songs and artists that speak to the unique experiences and emotions of being a lesbian. Music has always been a powerful medium for self-expression and connection, and for many individuals, finding music that reflects their own experiences can be incredibly validating and empowering. In recent years, there has been a growing movement towards more diverse and inclusive representation in the music industry, with a greater emphasis on LGBTQ+ voices and stories. By seeking out lesbian LPs, listeners can not only discover new music that speaks to their own lived experiences but also support LGBTQ+ artists and creators. This can help to create a more inclusive and representative music landscape for all listeners, regardless of their sexual orientation. In a world where representation matters more than ever, finding music that "gets" you as a lesbian can be a deeply meaningful and impactful experience. It's about more than just enjoying a catchy tune – it's about finding a sense of belonging and connection through the power of music.

As we are all still reeling from incidences of LGBTQIA+ violence and anti-trans legislation in many states around the United States, visibility days are more important than ever - for queer kids who are just figuring out who they are, for queer young adults trying to figure out where they fit in the world, and for older queer adults with joyful or cautionary tales of living in a world not created for them. Visibility is the power to tell your story and the ability to see people that look like you taking up space. [Image 1 description: [Background image is a photo taken in a forest. Two female presenting folks stand centered in the photo in an intimate embrace with their backs to the camera. Text above the image states, “April 26th 2024 is Lesbian Visibility Day.” Below this is the Envision:You Instagram handle, “@envisionyouco.”] End description.]

Looking back at the beginning of our intersectionality #ENCATELunchTalk series, we were reminded of the 26th Lunch Talk, in which Daniel Heller discussed the challenges faced by Queer Jewish people. If you haven´t watched yet, check it out: 🔗https://lnkd.in/e-KGne-a #ENCATE #antisemitism #education
