We are looking forward to this year's Dive In festival where we will be discussing the industry's advancements in inclusion and diversity. On the 24th of September (13:00 - 14:00), Andrew Corbin, Partner at Gallagher, will be speaking on a panel discussion which will delve into how the insurance industry can best support intersectionality and how firms can create more collaboration between I&D workstreams. The panel discussion will touch on lived experiences and examples of intersectionality to create understanding of the issue and what more the industry can do. At Gallagher, we are committed to joining up our l&D workstreams to ensure our initiatives and policies are supporting colleagues from different backgrounds and communities. We are proud to be a Global Festival Partner for Dive In which is celebrating its 10th year, the event continues to play an important role in recognising success and identifying how the industry can take this further. Don't forget to register for the 'What is intersectionality and why does it matter?' event via the #Diveln2024 hub. We look forward to seeing you there: https://lnkd.in/eSP7yZdD

Head of People @ Gattaca PLC | Creating Engaged, Inclusive, and High Performing Organisational Cultures
💡 If we're comfortable calling out behaviours that impact someone's health & safety, why don't we call out discriminatory behaviours in the same way? 👂 A thought-provoking question was raised at a fantastic session I had the pleasure of attending, with Men for Inclusion led by the charismatic, supportive, and knowledgeable Gary Ford & Mark Freed at the offices of LGT Capital Partners in London. The talk from Samantha Stimpson FRSA who gave us so much insight about the good, bad, and the ugly of EDI in terms of Data, Culture, People, and Strategy was a particular highlight, as was the sharing of ideas, thoughts, ideals and best practice of the wider group. The key takeaways for me were; 👉 Measuring the success of our EDI initiatives through both qualitative and quantitative methods will help us to drive change and demonstrate its value and impact for EVERYONE. 👉 Ensuring accountability is driven through EVERYONE, and rewarding leaders for delivering more diverse teams, should be authentic and not a tick-box exercise. Aligning to the purpose, mission, vision, and values of the organisation, makes this more real and believable. 👉 EVERYONE has the chance to call out behaviour. 👉 Backlash is occurring right now, and so getting the balance of messaging is really important to continue the right level of engagement for change, including how we're ensuring EVERYONE understands the value for themselves and future generations to come. Thank you again for hosting Gary Ford - I'm looking forward to the next one. The more conversations, and sharing best practices, we do as HR, People, or Talent professionals the more chance we have of making our workplaces 'environments where EVERYONE can be themselves' (one of the Gattaca principles!) #inclusivecultures #inclusion #EDI

Let's give a warm welcome to our panel of local experts in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion! On the 6th of March 2024 at Lewes Town Hall, they will contribute to our Annual Conference titled 'EDI – A Tick-box Exercise? Embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion to Transform Organisational Culture’. Over the past decade, there's been considerable pressure on UK businesses and organisations to prioritise EDI training and policies. However, for some, EDI becomes merely a checkbox, limiting its impact. Following a revealing YouGov survey in March 2023, a stark reality emerged – only two out of five employees believe their workplace genuinely values diversity and inclusion. Surprisingly, three-fifths of this group reported the presence of active EDI policies or initiatives. ❓ Share in the comments: what are your thoughts on the current state of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in organisations? During the conference, the speakers highlighted below will offer their insights and propose strategies to authentically embed a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion beyond formal training programmes. If you would like to join us, please confirm your attendance on Eventbrite: https://lnkd.in/e_GCkB35 #diversityequityandinclusion #inclusion #leadership

Breaking the Captive Glass Ceiling Diversity isn't just a buzzword—it's a powerful force for change. Join us in exploring the insightful discussion from the World Captive Forum, where industry leaders Anne Marie Towle, Amy O'Brien, Melissa Hollingsworth, and W. Rae Brown, CPA, ACI shared their experiences and strategies for breaking barriers in the captive insurance industry. Melissa Hollingsworth's words hit home: "If you find talking about gender and race uncomfortable, imagine living it." These women are leading by example, pushing for crucial conversations and tangible action towards a more inclusive workplace. Anne Marie Towle emphasised the importance of creating an inclusive environment at Hylant Global Risk and Captive Solutions, focusing on bringing in diverse voices and experiences. Amy O'Brien highlighted the value of mentorship programmes, while W. Rae Brown, CPA, ACI emphasised the need for transparency and authenticity. But the journey to diversity isn't without its challenges. From imposter syndrome to the gender pay gap, these leaders have faced obstacles head-on, inspiring others to advocate for equal representation and fair treatment. Diversity isn't just the right thing to do—it's also smart business. Companies with diverse teams are more innovative, productive, and better equipped to capture new markets. Embracing neurodiversity: Building a world where differences shine. I believe Neurodiversity should be a part of every company’s DNA.
Here's a topical read for you during #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek: 'Creating a neuroinclusive organisation for the future of work' by the CIPD’s Dr Jill Miller (PhD) and Uptimize’s Ed Thompson 📖 In it, they explain why workplace EDI must include neuroinclusion - and a dedication to equality of outcomes for all types of thinkers - if organisations are to fulfil their people commitments, attract and retain great talent, and unlock innovation through true diversity of thought.
