You cannot create history without first acknowledging those who paved the way. Honoring the work of those who came before me is essential in creating lasting change. Let's be intentional and authentic in our efforts to fill the gap between communities and law enforcement. It's not always easy, but the rewards of creating positive impact are worth it. Let's continue paying it forward. #beintentional #beauthentic #payingitforward

Great people know how to achieve great things, working as a team across all lines
🦅At a time where political affiliations often diverge, there are moments that bridge the gap. One such moment arises when we consider the remarkable span of 50 years spent in public service – an accomplishment that resonates beyond party lines. Today, we pause to express our sincere appreciation to Senator Tom Carper for his unwavering dedication and service. Half a century of commitment to public office is a testament to his enduring passion for serving Delaware. We commend his contributions and thank him for his tireless efforts in making an impact on our great State. 🙌🇺🇸 #PublicServiceAppreciation #SenTomCarper #DecadesOfDedication Robby Sheehan Chris Baker gerard esposito

In Part 1, Jean discussed how we got here, beginning with the outrage over George Floyd’s murder. First, we saw a multiracial coalition, then the inevitable backlash. In Part 2: What tools do we have to accelerate change? Jean discusses transitional justice and the race class narrative: what works, what doesn’t, and how to stay the course. #Justice #Change

Minnesota Department of Corrections & Commissioner Paul Schnell: More often than not, those who live a life behind bars are forgotten after being labeled a criminal. A title we are raised to avoid. But what happens to those who the system targets and enslaves? If you know the story of Jesus; he was executed first and exonerated later. The Justice System in America is the opposite of "Just". Laws are interpreted by humans and vary not only by state and city, but also by courtroom, and feelings or mood of the day by the judge. Many innocent humans are sitting in a cage for something they haven’t done but were proven guilty - not- by fair trial. They are voiceless because society has labeled them and thrown them away. I dare you to listen to the VOICES OF THE VOICELESS. I dare you to take a new lens and view to what’s happening all around you. Human entrapment & enslavement of black men all around America. I dare you to open your heart to truth and be the difference. Find a way to change the future history and story of this country. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, an African-American passenger, refused to give up her bus seat in the "coloured section" of a bus to a White male passenger when the "White section" was full, and the bus driver asked her to give up her seat. Her action was an act of civil disobedience against the then Alabama's racial segregation law on public buses. That law was later overturned by a U.S. district court on June 5, 1956, and subsequently affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court on November 13, 1956, in a case called Browder v. Gayle. It's good, however, to note that Rosa Parks was not the first person who refused to give up his/her seat; several people did it years and months before Madam Parks. Before the bus incident, Madam Parks was a seamstress at a department store and a Sunday School teacher at her church. Congress called Rosa Parks the "First Lady of civil rights,” and she became the first lady to lay in honour in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. Military and government officials lay in state, while civilians and non-government officials lay in honour in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. It’s a tradition that started in 1852 after the death John Clay, who served as a U.S. representative and senator from Kentucky, as well as secretary of state under John Quincy Adams. #history #ushistory #worldhistory #americanhistory #globalaffairs #civilrights #civilrightsmovement #rosaparks
