You are trying to get an Entry-Job in games but it's more difficult than expected? Well, same for me. But the good thing is we are in the same boat aren't we? 😉 So, hear me out and tell me what you think of my idea: Since none of us is perfect in ALL areas of game dev, why don't we just get together and build games together? Support each other and create outstanding games for our portfolios! 😎 I am looking for some passionate (no, not "talented" or something else, I don't care if you have ever done something with games before) artist, programmer, 3D-modeller, music creator, whatever you think you can contribute to make games together. What I have in mind: - no hierarchy in group, everyone's ideas welcome -> let's just create your dream game - mobile or desktop - fix meetings (let it be online) once a week - fun and passion & very important dedication 💥 #GameDevCollaboration #EntryLevelGameDev #IndieGameTeam #GameDevelopmentCommunity #GameDevNetworking #GameDevCollab #PassionateCreators #DreamGameProject #NoHierarchyGameDev #CreativeCollaboration #GameDevOpportunity #TeamBuildingInGameDev #DedicatedCreators #JoinTheGameDevJourney #GameDevTogether #WeeklyMeetings #BuildGamesTogether #CollaborativeGameDesign #PassionProjectGameDev #InclusiveGameDevelopment

Looking for an experienced 🤖 Game Designer? 🤖 Yoshua Woo is currently looking for his next employer! (You'll find his portfolio and resume linked in the comments⬇) A quick tl;dr: about Yoshua ✍⬇ While only being with us for 1 year, Yoshua took responsibility from day 1. He is the kind of guy where you know everything he says can be relied upon and is based on learning, testing, and data. I wholeheartedly believe that Yoshua can improve every project out there with his expertise, by looking at and improving the game to achieve a more engaging and polished experience. Responsibilities: 💠Ownership & Creative Direction in every game design aspect of our 6-person team. 💠Developed & iterated game design features and the overall UX based on testing results 💠Conceptualized & verified important core gameplay and aligned the whole team on a common goal/UX/prototype result. 💠Focus on 3Cs and systems Professional Experience: 👾 1,5 years But do not be fooled - he punches way above his weight (XP) mentioned. But do not only ask me, because I'm biased (GoGo Yoshua!), ask the following persons from 3rd parties who worked with him at some point: - Guido Schmidt (Associated Executive Producer at Remedy Entertainment Plc and Author of Game Design: Impossible. Over the last months Guido mentored Yoshua) - Ralf C. Adam (games industry veteran & Producer at TigerTeam Productions) 💡 He really is one of the friendliest people I know and an invaluable asset to any team. Oh, did I mention he can code and has a tech background? 🔃 Please consider engaging with this post to give it the best chance to meet more people and opportunities. -- 📣 As announced in our studio closure post this is the second part (of 6) where I introduce you to our team. 💼 Everyone is looking for a new job and it would be awesome if you could engage with this post, to support us. We're thankful for every opportunity 🧬 Next up: Game Programmer, Daniel Beer -- #games #gamesindustry #lookingforjob #gamedev #remotejobs #gamesdevelopment #gamedesign #technicalgamedesign #indiegame #indiedev #videogames #gamesystems #3Cs

After getting a chance to share some tears and some drinks with some friends last night, I can make a more definitive post. I was laid off along with the vast majority of the studio as part of the Goliath acquisition of Funko Games yesterday. Having the opportunity to make amazing things with some of the most talented minds in our industry is not something I take for granted. We changed the landscape of the aisle, took fearless risks, and always put 110% in everything we did. Every game deserved our best, because every gamer (or potential gamer) deserved nothing less. Prospero Hall was simply different, and quite likely will never be replicated again. I'll speak more on Prospero Hall later, but this post is going to be too long as-is. That said, I'm purely optimistic for the future. Far too much talent was in the building to expect anything but amazing work wherever we end up. As I cryptically posted yesterday while news made it's way around the office, I have no regrets. I stayed true to myself and my team until the end, lived my core values of empathy and optimism the best I could, and made some amazing things along the way. My only source of sadness comes from knowing that we only reached a fraction of the potential we had. We could have done so much more. I'm #openforwork of the game development variety, and will perhaps take this opportunity to do some personal projects along the way. If you want to collaborate on something, I'm all ears. If you're hiring for game development, let me know. I'm interested, and would love to pass on the opportunity to the other game devs I led and worked alongside that were affected yesterday. Along those same lines if you have an opportunity for graphic designers, illustrators, 3d sculptors, project managers, or any other job you can imagine in the games industry, toss me a line and I can introduce you to some of the best in the world.

📢We've just opened two new roles for a Senior Game Designer and a Senior Narrative Designer! But what does a narrative designer do at Next Games? How is their work different from that of a typical Game Designer? We asked our Design Director, Tim, to explain: "A Game Designer creates content that keeps players engaged, challenged, and curious. On the other hand, a Narrative Designer ensures we are creating a fantasy that players want to engage with. This could include a world, characters, and sometimes a story. Every game has a narrative, but some games have a story, too." Read more about the roles and apply below! ⬇️ #Helsinki #NowHiring
