Nike has been a lot in the media lately. And everyone seems to have their opinion on what’s the right path ahead. Some mention a gap in the innovation flow. Some mention the DTC push as too hard. Some say it has missed that brand edge. Some remind us of the rising competition. Perhaps there is some truth to all of the above. What we’ve witnessed in the past few months, hasn’t been pretty. Securing a strong innovation pipeline, balancing DTC and partners, bringing the brand back to its roots… it takes a hard inwards look and a lot of humility to recognize and address what may not be working as it should. What is undeniable though, is that Nike has had that intangible element that gives it the power to move trends and turn things around. It has a soul. I absolutely LOVE this new campaign because it reminds us all that a winning mentality isn’t a bad thing. It’s the ingredient that pushes us to the edges of our abilities and that helps overcome hurdles and our own limitations. But it all starts with really deeply wanting to win.
