The place of quality education in Leadership for the African youth Africa's youth population is brimming with potential, and equipping them with leadership skills is crucial for the continent's future. Quality education plays a central role in nurturing these abilities. Traditional education systems in Africa have often emphasized rote learning and memorization. However, effective leadership development requires a more holistic approach. Quality leadership education empowers young Africans with critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. It fosters creativity, innovation, and an understanding of complex issues. Leadership programs that go beyond the classroom and provide practical experience are vital. This could involve internships, mentorship opportunities, or participation in youth-led organizations. Exposure to real-world challenges allows young people to develop their leadership abilities in a safe and supportive environment. Technology can also play a significant role. Online courses and platforms can provide access to leadership education for young people in remote areas. Additionally, social media can be a tool for connecting with mentors and peers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. Investing in quality leadership education for African youth is an investment in the continent's future. By equipping young people with the necessary skills and knowledge, we can empower them to become the effective leaders Africa needs to thrive. Accountant || Founder ~THE CHANGE INITIATIVE || SDG 4 Advocate || GYA@theirworld|| Empowering human potential, helping individuals uphold the highest standards through Finance, youth advocacy, and community development”.
🌏How can a nation be built by its student leaders? •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 💦9 years ago, I had the unique opportunity to serve as a senior prefect at Saker Baptist College. This experience completely changed the trajectory of my life, transitioning me from a mere student to a reputable leader entrusted with responsibilities wherever I went. It ignited my passion for initiating projects and embodying servant leadership. Today, I can confidently say that the current phase of my life is directly attributed to my student leadership experience . 💦Africa’s greatest need right now is leadership and a well-educated, skilled workforce. Unfortunately, millions of students in secondary schools lack access to quality leadership education. With over 60% of the population under the age of 25, young people are the vital force that will shape the future of every nation. 💦It is essential for youths in secondary schools to learn leadership values and acquire the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly demanding and uncertain job world and become the leaders we wish we had. Without urgent ambitious action, this quality of learning crisis will become a generational catastrophe . 💦The leadership and learning crisis in Cameroon is significant, but it’s solvable. With the Student Leadership for Nation Building training program organised by THE CHANGE INITIATIVE (T.C.I) we aim to integrate leadership education beginning at the secondary school level, cultivating a critical mass of young, promising leaders for Cameroon’s development. 💦As we kick off by training both outgoing and present school prefects, we will engage them in our mentorship program, equipping them to pay it forward by volunteering, starting initiatives, and positively influencing and raising more young leaders in their communities. What’s your take on student leadership?,Please kindly share in the comment section 👇👇 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••. You can make a difference by sponsoring this program today. Donate to THE CHANGE INITIATIVE via UBA Acc Number-16064000172. For more information, contact us at +237 681923634

Immediate Past Vice President of the Federation of Ghana Medical Students’ Associations || Medicine and Research|| Public Health || Global Health
Ever had a way to turn a challenge into an advantage? Earlier this year, I got nominated for the flagship program of LeadAfrique International called the Ghana Youth Leadership Academy (GYLA). A year-long academy to train young leaders for Ghana and Africa's development. Much gratitude to Chiaky Otuteye, MD and Jacqueline Dee Nyarko for the nomination. I was so excited to be part of 40 young leaders to experience transformational lessons for leadership but a challenge came up. Guess what, the first in-person camp for the Academy was at a time school was in session. Which means I had to get an official permission from school authorities. From enquiries, almost everyone told me getting the permission was extremely impossible. But I decided to give it a try, after all if I don't get it, I tried😂. After two weeks of writing letters, explaining why I need the permission and interacting with my professors on why I want to go, I was finally given the go ahead. In addition to this, I got to establish a very good rapport with my professors because of my interactions and persistence. And I see this to be a challenge turned into an advantage. Reflecting on this experience, I got to learn that: 📌 Not everything that is heard is true. We are unique individually and have different experiences. Never let someone's experience prevent you from going for what you want. 📌 Always give that difficult task a good attempt. With zero attempt, your chances of success is zero and with a good attempt there is a chance of acing it. Always give that difficult task your best shot. Who knows, it might be your day to defy the odds. 📌 Never give up in your pursuit for excellence. Always be persistent in whatever you want. If I gave up, I would have dropped out of the Ghana Youth Leadership Academy automatically, missed all the key takeaways & valuable connections I am getting from the Academy and would have missed establishing a good relationship with my professors here in medical school. Do not shy away from giving your best shot at that seemingly impossible task. Give it your possible best and trust me, it might be your day. I am Clifford Yeboah Duodu, a doctor in training and here to bring value to the LinkedIn table. Kindly share, comment or repost to keep someone going. #medstudentlinkedintribe #consistencychallengewithdrlinkedin #linkedingrowth #overcomingchallenges

In the spirit of recognizing Black History Month here are some facts about blacks or people of African descent in the Caribbean and Latin America. Approximately 130 million people in Latin America are of African descent with Brazil and Colombia being the top two countries with the most African descendants. In the Caribbean, Haiti, DR and Jamaica are the top three countries with the most African descendants. The culture of Africa brought by Africans in the Trans-Atlantic former slave trade has influenced various parts of Latin America. Influences are particularly strong in dance, music, cuisine, and some syncretic religions of Cuba, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Northwest Ecuador, coastal Colombia, and Nicaragua. Caribbean food is unique by island and influenced by Europe, India, Africa and Asia. The Africa and African diaspora influence is prevalent as African traditions have been passed down to the over 40 million descendants that live in the Caribbean. About 5 million African slaves were taken to the Caribbean. Our history is diverse and as beautiful as our people, the music, the food and the culture. #blackhistory #caribbean #latinamerica It is my hope that LA&CCA can continue to increase diversity, equity and inclusion amongst our people in the region. This is one such effort to do so. God willing, much more will come.
The deadline is approaching fast: February 2, 2024 Two full scholarships are available for the program's first iteration, starting March 4. We aim to empower experienced leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean to develop effective strategies in our dynamic world. Please send your applications to: Marta.Scholfield@sbs.ox.ac.uk
