As we get ever so close to AIA Florida's premier event (Convention & Trade Show - https://lnkd.in/em8TbU6w), I am looking forward to meeting new architects, reconnecting with others and sharing time with the many that KPI Engineering, Inc. professionals support through our mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection designs. I thoroughly enjoy going back to the spaces we create together and watching them activated with the people we created them for. Watching families and young people at multifamily facilities enjoying the places they call home. Watching people enjoy their food and company at the many restaurants we design. Watching professionals enjoying their dynamic work spaces and their colleagues while continuing their work and careers. Watching athletes young through old enjoying the sports complexes we proudly design. Walking through historic spaces we help to maintain and enhance. Visiting educational facilities from K-12 to higher learning where we ensure educational spaces are comfortable so people can maximize their learning. Seeing cargo and passenger planes maintained at the airports we work with to ensure travel safety. Knowing patients can feel comfortable while receiving care at their doctor's offices, clinics, treatment facilities and hospitals we help - etc... The work we do is important and of most importance is the challenge to make systems that are hidden such as the piping, wires, cables, ducts that are behind walls and in concealed spaces as efficient as we can so that we can help our architectural partners and owners enhance these spaces visually. It is an honor to work with such varied and fantastic architects and their architectural firms. I look forward to seeing them, thanking them, and enjoying our moments together. environment creates behaviour. A lot of the underbelly to most design events I have attended are quite serious, end-of-world in tone - whilst that has a place, Design Truth is more an avenue for fun. Creating that point of difference is normally through the environments we rock up at, allowing people to be a genuine version of themselves rather than the online alter-ego. A major part of the process when creating four events in four weeks across Cambridge, Bristol, London & Manchester is the venue. How do we find somewhere that is true to the people within the area but does not deviate from the atmosphere and tone that we want to create. Do you know what a vomitorium really was? 🤔 This is a feature of amphitheaters and stadiums in ancient Rome. These were wide corridors leading to the auditorium that allowed large numbers of people to go to their seats quickly and efficiently and to leave them quickly after the event. ✅ Nowadays, the concept of the vomitorium is still appearing in discussions about effective traffic management in large buildings and public facilities Although modern architectural approaches differ from ancient practices, the idea of ensuring the smooth flow of people in public spaces remains a priority.
