This #MedalofHonorMonday, we honor the extraordinary heroism of Sgt. John Levitow, U.S. Air Force. 🇺🇸 During a night mission in support of Long Binh Army Post, his aircraft was struck by a hostile mortar round, creating over 3,500 holes in the craft and wounding all occupants. Despite suffering over 40 wounds, Sgt. Levitow saw a smoking flare and, disregarding his own injuries, moved his wounded teammate to safety. Struggling through loss of blood and partial loss of feeling in his right leg, he threw himself onto the burning flare, dragging it to the rear of the aircraft and hurling it out the open cargo door just as it ignited mid-air. His selfless actions saved the aircraft and crew from certain death and we remember and honor his courage and sacrifice. 🌟
This MOH Air Force Pilot is now flying high in Gods Heaven!!
He was an A1C (Airman First Class) at the time of his heroic action. I was proud to sew on A1C when I did coming up thru the ranks, being inspired by A1C Levitow. Every person and rank mattered on aircraft missions. Huge Salute!
🗽Freedom is Not Free🗽 You Gave the Ultimate Sacrifice⭐️🇺🇲⭐️ Never Forget. 🗽You live among Angels, 🕊 with the Glory of God Beaming All Around You. YOUR FAMILY IS IN OUR PRAYERS
Because of him and all others like him….We MUST try to be better Americans and Humans❤️
People throw the term hero around often these days. This is the story of a REAL hero... not for playing sports, or singing, or movies, or politics, but actually displaying courage, loyalty and caring for his fellows. This is the American Breed. This is what we fight and sacrifice for... our fellow man. I'm willing to bet he never kneeled during the National Anthem, I bet he stood tall, and with pride.
God bless the heroic man. Thank you for your outstanding service and the actions you took to save other lives. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
