In a new report unveiled in Canberra today, the Property Council of Australia and GBCA are calling for sustainability driven planning incentives and reforms. Titled, 'Every Building Counts: for state and territory governments', the report outlines a series of policy recommendations centred on property that can help Australia reach its decarbonisation goals. Green Building Council of Australia CEO Davina Rooney said the report outlined the need for long-term strategies for zero-carbon-ready buildings and homes, and that governments must turbocharge the shift to high-performance sustainable buildings and homes. “Incentives have the potential to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient and distributed technologies in both new and existing buildings," Ms Rooney said.
