via StockHound Black Canyon Limited has made a significant leap in its manganese exploration efforts, announcing a substantial increase in its Global Mineral Resources at the Balfour Manganese Field (BMF). The field now boasts a total of 314 Mt at 10.5% Mn, containing 33.1 Mt of #manganese, with a high-grade component of 99 Mt at 12.9% Mn. This substantial resource upgrade is a product of the completion of Mineral Resource Estimates (MRE) for the Damsite and Balfour East deposits within BMF. These maiden MREs stand at 40 Mt at 11.9% Mn, containing 4.7 Mt of manganese. Newly-listed Kali Metals Ltd (ASX:KM1) has identified lithium-bearing pegmatites across multiple locations within its Higginsville District tenement holding in Western Australia, with initial rock chip samples returning assays up to 3.69% Li20 at Spargoville, one of eight projects within the portfolio. The company's preliminary exploration program at Higginsville, completed before its initial public offering (IPO), included a first-pass soil sampling program at Spargoville and at the northern section of Widgiemooltha, another project within the 1,571 square kilometre land holding. News of the initial discovery has sent the company’s shares as much as 67.62% higher in morning trade to $0.88, extending its strong run since listing on January 8. via Stockhead Latin Resources Limited has reported a whopping 56% increase in the global resource at its Salinas lithium project in Brazil to 70.3Mt at 1.27% Li2O. Not only has the Colina resource increased by around 41%, the contained #Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE) has increased from 1.47Mt to 2.05Mt. It also represents a 65% increase into the measured and indicated categories – reflecting the high levels of confidence in both the geological continuity and grade of the Colina pegmatites. Burley Minerals has made an auspicious discovery and struck into the prized caesium bearer pollucite alongside high-grade lithium at its Chubb Lithium Project. There are none remaining of the three pollucite mines to ever operate, and Burley happen to have two members on hand from one of them. “The discovery of pollucite at the Main Dyke of Chubb Central, adjacent to spodumene mineralisation, greatly enhances the importance of the Chubb Project to Burley Minerals. To date, deposits of pollucite have not been large, but quality pollucite is a critical mineral of high value, and only three pollucite mines have operated world-wide. One of those mines was the Sinclair Caesium Mine near Norseman, Western Australia, which was profitably mined by Pioneer Resources Limited when I was Managing Director. The Premier’s decision to announce Phase I of the Critical Mineral Strategy at AME Roundup shows the important role AME plays in facilitating conversations about the future of our industry. There is often a significant gap – measured in years or even decades – between discovering a mineral deposit and becoming an operating mine. Any critical mineral ambition is dependent on having a robust mineral exploration industry to discover the deposits that supply metals and minerals into the future. Timeliness of the permitting system continues to be a major obstacle to further unlocking BC’s mineral potential. We appreciate the Premier’s acknowledgement that more action is required to facilitate the development of new critical mineral projects. In particular, it is imperative that greater emphasis is placed on competitiveness and the fiscal and regulatory policies that will attract investment in mineral exploration and mine development. We urge the government to move quickly on its comprehensive critical minerals strategy and accelerate their timelines, to remain competitive with our provincial peers. In 2023, BC’s contribution to the national mineral exploration expenditure decreased by 33%, with total contribution lagging at 17%, compared to Ontario (24%) and Quebec (23%). We believe an investment of $50 million over three years is required to sufficiently fund and implement a strategy to the same level as our other provincial peers and truly complement the federal critical minerals strategy. Leeuwin Metals Ltd (ASX:LM1) has begun field mapping over promising lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites at the Cross Lake Lithium Project in Manitoba, Canada, following up last year’s exploration, which identified a 4.7-kilometre prospective #lithium corridor. The fieldwork will better inform LM1 as to the position and nature of #spodumene (hard rock lithium) mineralisation in unexplored areas of the project. Hyperspectral imagery and desktop targeting has identified more than 300 walk-up targets to be tested in 2024. The exploration team will also focus on advancing targets prospective for lithium, #copper, #gold and #silver within the 2,000-square-kilometre tenure, which sits within the Cross Lake greenstone belt. BOA Resources (ASX:BOA) Ltd has enhanced the #CriticalMinerals opportunity at the Two Tanks Prospect west of Mt Ida in Western Australia with drilling revealing numerous pegmatites with some fractionation pointing to potential #lithium mineralisation. The 18-hole aircore drilling program drilled 1,296 metres and multi-element assays recently received confirm a consistent degree of fractionation, as indicated by the K/Rb ratio. Most units showed a ratio of below 40, consistent with a fractionated pegmatitic unit and the company is planning more work to further understand prospectivity. Another development in BOA’s critical minerals strategy has been the final award of Ant Hill tenement (E63/2231) in the highly prospective Lake Johnston region of WA. Earlier this year, the company revealed a massive 241 per cent increase to the Colina mineral resource to 45.2 million tonnes at 1.34 per cent lithium oxide, representing a #lithium carbonate equivalent of 1.477 million tonnes. The latest visual results at #LRS’ newly-dubbed Planalto target show about 45m of cumulative spodumene from a scouting campaign aimed at identifying new discoveries at Salinas, ahead of an upgraded mineral resource at Colina expected this year.
