How the MEA development will affect the Marketing authorization & the Reimbursement timelines ? ✋ In 2024, regional developments will impact marketing authorization processes and reimbursement timelines, underlining the importance of adaptability for executives navigating this landscape. Turkey introduces legislation allowing post-registration drug analyses, streamlining authorization timelines and simplifying market entry. In the UAE, firms must now engage with the federal government for clarity on revised marketing authorization processes, ensuring smooth operations. Algeria sees the Ministry of Finance allocating funds to the Central Hospitals Pharmacy to clear debts with public hospitals, reducing reimbursement timelines. Conversely, Kuwait faces potential delays in FY 2024/25 budget approvals, likely extending reimbursement timelines. Economic challenges in Egypt suggest no improvement in reimbursement timelines for 2024. Nigeria signals a possible shift towards pooled procurement and localization to manage rising drug prices. Saudi Arabia is set to transform its pharmaceutical procurement process, with NUPCO leading direct procurement from manufacturers and aiming for an increased presence in the private sector. South Africa's DapLab Meds will continue being pivotal in driving pharmaceutical demand in public healthcare, highlighting the value of partnerships with public stakeholders in 2024.... 👨⚖️ #MEA #pharmaceuticals #Market access # reimbursement # AMM #pch #registration # 2024 regulatory

Continuous Learner in Procurement | 2 Decades in Retail & Pharma | SRM, Sourcing, Inventory, Cost Reduction, Market Expansion
Are you need to know how pharmaceutical products moved to patients in Saudi Arabia? The value chain for #pharmaceutical products in #Saudi_Arabia involves several key stages: 1) #Research_and_Development (#R&D): in last decade Saudi Arabia shows an increasing focus on establishing a local R&D infrastructure within the country. 2) #Regulatory Approval: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (#SFDA) is responsible for ensuring that all pharmaceuticals meet the necessary standards for safety, efficacy, and quality before they are approved for market entry. 3) #Manufacturing: There’s a strategic push towards local manufacturing of both generic and branded drugs to support economic diversification and reduce import dependency. 4) #Distribution: Pharmaceuticals are distributed through hospital pharmacies, and retail pharmacies, ensuring nationwide availability. 5) #Sales_and_Marketing: Companies engage in activities to promote their products to healthcare providers and consumers, including doctor detailing and media advertising which are controlled by SFDA Guidelines and Supervision. 6) #Retail: Pharmacies serve as the final point of sale (in private sector), with ongoing efforts to optimize the supply chain for better drug availability. 7) #Governmental Facilities and Services: #Ministry_of_Health (MoH): The MoH oversees healthcare and health policy in Saudi Arabia. It formulates strategies for public health, manages health infrastructure, and provides integrated healthcare services across all regions. Healthcare in government medical facilities is provided free of charge to citizens based on a new health strategy. #Primary_Care_Centers: These centers offer essential healthcare services to citizens and residents. #Medical_Cities and #Specialized_Hospitals: These facilities provide specialized care, including university and military hospitals. #Hajj and #Umrah Periods: During these religious pilgrimages, healthcare services are extended to millions of visitors. 8)The National Unified Procurement Company (#NUPCO) plays a crucial role in the healthcare value chain in Saudi Arabia. Established in 2009 and fully owned by the #Public_Investment_Fund #PIF, NUPCO is the leading entity in procurement, logistics, and supply chain management for pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and supplies for governmental hospitals in the Kingdom. The pharmaceutical market in Saudi Arabia is expanding due to improvements in healthcare, strategic partnerships, and the introduction of new medications, along with government initiatives to boost local manufacturing capabilities. I tried to make the story as simple as possible. Did I miss anything, or is there anything that needs to be amended to better reflect the real situation?

In the 1970s, the pharmaceutical market in Egypt experienced significant growth, with local manufacturing facilities producing more products under license from foreign companies. Multinational companies also established branches in Egypt for local production. EGYDRUG's extensive branch network efficiently served this expansion. Importation of products protected by intellectual property patents was exclusively handled by EGYDRUG. Credit facilities were offered to pharmacies and hospitals for local production, with a 45-day payment period, while imported products required cash payment. Although supply was lower than demand and operational costs were low, EGYDRUG, being a state company, was not managed for profitability. The entry of the private sector into pharmaceutical distribution introduced competition, with new manufacturers like Amoun, EIPICO, Pharco, Ameryia, and October emerging to address shortages. This led to the emergence of new distributors, and EGYDRUG's market share declined. Increased competition resulted in improved service levels, discounts, and credit limits, and EGYDRUG was no longer the distributor of choice. #EGYDRUG #PharmaceuticalDistribution #Egypt #HealthcareIndustry #Nationalization
