We are happy to announce, that the seminar "Lead & Zinc" will take place on 11th-13th September in Nordenham, Johannastraße 2. In this regard, we would like to thank GLENCORE Nordenham for sponsoring this event! Submit your abstract and title by May 3rd, 2024 and send it to fa-zinkgdmb.de/ fa-blei@gdmb.de. These are our focus topics for 2024: 1. Best practice operations (work safety, minimization of emissions, new technology-implemented, refractory) 2. Circular Economy recovery of valuables from complex primary and secondary feed materials 3. De-carbonization: roadmaps, available and upcoming technologies, role of hydrogen in Pb/Zn metallurgy 4. Process optimzation and control: measures and technology 5. Evolution of zinc and lead markets 6. Changes in regulatory space 7. Research update from relevant universities 8. How to extract process waste heat from matallurigcal process for utilization We look forward to your active participation in the seminar! #Lead #Zinc #GDMB #Nordenham #ExpertCommittee #Glencore #Metallurgy

Strong race made by Rio Tinto with his Venture Nuton and its bio-heap leaching technology with targets of 85% of recovery for primary sulphide ores. With these recovery rates you will simply erase of the map stages like smelting and refining, considering the straight competition with concentrator plants (holistically speaking, of course). Interesting to see what is next!

Responsibly sourced seawater is a thing. Looking forward to reading the life cycle assessment (LCA) for responsibly sourced Magnesium made using responsibly sourced seawater to ensure minimum environmental impact on responsibly sourced wild caught fish and other seafood. Wondering if life cycle assessments are just for carbon dioxide emissions intensity or whether they measure impact on biological ecosystems as well - on which food chains depend. But that’s another kettle of fish. Most LCAs for mining would appear to focus on greenhouse gas emissions intensity; global warming emissions intensity; climate change emissions intensity; climate change and variability emissions intensity; carbon dioxide emissions intensity; CO2 emissions intensity; Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions intensity; Net Zero global warming emissions intensity; Net Zero climate change emissions intensity; Net Zero climate change and variability emissions intensity; Net Zero carbon dioxide emissions intensity; Net Zero CO2 emissions intensity; Net Zero emissions intensity … … … What’s the biological impact?

Reward Minerals Limited (ASX:RWD) has received validation of its #PotassiumSulphate processing technology after the International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) found that RWD’s claim 1-17 met the requirements for novelty under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) Article 33(2), inventive step under PCT Article 33(3) and industrial applicability under Article 33(4). The IPEA is an international body that provides a preliminary and non-binding opinion as to the suitability of a technology to be patented. The next step for Reward will be to file the regional and national applications by February next year, in the countries the company wishes to seek patent protection. “This is another key step toward transforming the Sulphate of Potash (SOP) industry via commercialisation of Reward’s processing technology,” Reward Minerals CEO Lorry Hughes said. Production Problems -Asphaltene Asphaltene in production wells can result from the precipitation of heavy organic compounds present in crude oil. This precipitation can be influenced by factors like pressure, temperature, and fluid composition. #Mitigation strategies include adjusting operating conditions, using chemical additives, and employing effective wellbore and surface facilities management to prevent asphaltene deposition. Consultation with petroleum engineers and specialists is crucial for a tailored approach to address asphaltene-related issues in production wells. Kredit : Bahman Tohidi
