An advancement for clean energy in industrial processes. Some time ago, envisioned a clean energy industrial park where intermittent resources and baseload nuclear provided electricity, steam and other aspects for clean energy to power industrials, server farms, etc. these parks could serve as economic development engines to regions of provinces or states. It takes a number of entities to cooperate on such an endeavour and it may now be possible as AI server farms need vast amounts of electricity.

The X-energy & Cavendish Nuclear commissioned Teesside University to undertake a study of the potential benefits and economic impacts of a proposed NPP in Hartlepool, UK, based on X-energy's Xe-100 HTGR.

HYDROGEN: Amarinth is one of the first organisations to secure the UK’s Fit for Hydrogen and Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (F4H2 + CCUS) certification. F4H2 + CCUS certification, modelled on the established Fit For Nuclear (F4N) standard, assesses a company’s readiness to supply the expanding sectors of hydrogen production and carbon capture. The DOE Office of Technology Transitions will fund four new projects at Argonne, turning scientists' groundbreaking ideas into next-generation tech that will advance the nation's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions - https://bit.ly/3A73Sdv These projects aim to integrate power electronics into grid and solar power systems, design and license molten salt nuclear reactors, decrease costs, decarbonize organic waste treatment, and develop inventive solutions for water desalination. Through partnerships with industry leaders, these projects can advance innovative technologies to facilitate a smooth transition into a clean energy economy.

Key facts: Over 60 million Europeans rely on district heating to warm their homes - 75% of EU district heating systems still rely on fossil fuels - The majority of low-temperature industrial processes utilize gas for heat generation By delivering carbon-neutral heat to homes, offices, and industrial applications, we can significantly reduce carbon footprint, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and eliminate the burning of fossil fuels. Great option for Europe, does it have applications to those nations in the tropical zones, who require electrical power for cooling?

I had the opportunity to discuss decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries at the SMR & Advanced Reactor conference, with great co-panelists Erin Henderson, PhD, MBA, PMP, Microsoft, William Labbe, ARC Clean Technology Mark W. Nelson -The market is large and very diverse. One data point that I shared is manufacturing in the US alone uses the heat output equivalent to around 75% of existing US nuclear power plants. -Around 1/2 of the industrial heat demand is 'low-temperature' at 300C or lower -Industry is looking to co-locate heat & power to avoid long grid delays -Large electricity users, like Microsoft on this panel, are trying to aggregate demand for grid power -Industrial demand is near-term. Developers need to demonstrate readiness for the industry to consider them as an option. Project success is a critical factor for these industries, to some extent more than costs due to limited options. -Licensing and permitting is a concern in timeline and uncertainty.
