Founder & CEO, PILOT | Let’s Elevate Your Employee Development Together | Empowering Your Staff Through a Balanced, Innovative, Engaging, Metrics-Driven Program for Talent Development, DEI, and Retention
➡️ The Crucial Intersection of DEI and L&D According to recent SHRM data: 📊 70% of U.S. workers emphasize the importance of employers' DEI progress 📊 80% are likely to job hunt if their company backtracks on diversity efforts DEI progress has a significant impact on talent retention, organizational culture, and business goals. So how do we move DEI beyond something we're saying we're doing to something we're actually doing? We need to move DEI efforts out of their silos and integrate them into the core of L&D at every level. Here are some examples: 🔹 D (Diversity) + Tailor learning paths for the unique backgrounds of underrepresented talents. + Offer mentorships and cultural education to enhance skill sets and understanding. 🔹 E (Equity) + Ensure everyone has explicit knowledge of the "unwritten rules" for success. + Build clear and accessible career progression paths for all backgrounds. 🔹 I (Inclusion) + Offer genuine opportunities for engagement and growth not tied to specific events or months. + Design cohort-based L&D programs that promote belonging and mutual respect. By understanding the symbiotic relationship between DEI and L&D, we lay the groundwork for retaining talent, developing future leaders, and creating an authentically inclusive workplace. 🚀 Check out PILOT Inc.'s recent article on this topic to learn more: https://lnkd.in/eycAihsj #DEI #LearningAndDevelopment #InclusiveCulture #HRLeadership

CEO of The Experiential Learning Group (PCA, PCA Law, LGLD and Youd Andrews) - a passion for Human-centred Leadership and a mission to use Human-centred Experiential Learning to help individuals and organisations grow.
In L&D we've been told for years that apparently we're all FAILING: 🔍 75% of managers dissatisfied with their company’s L&D function (HBR) 📉 70% of employees want improvement when it comes to their L&D offering (CYPHER Learning) 😱 99% of large employers have seen in-house learning programmes fail in the past five years (City & Guilds) Headline grabbing statistics regularly published from research supposedly showing that most of what we're all doing to help our people's growth just isn't working. ❤️The thing is though that most of us involved in L&D feel something different 💡We all see transformational moments that people have when given permission to do so 🤗 We all experience the humanity in the room when people are afforded some safe space 🫶We all connect with the growth and joy people find in just 'being' with their colleagues ⭐ L&D ISN'T FAILING ⭐ It's probably one of the few places in many a professional's working lives where they can feel supported, no longer alone and free from judgement. Our problem though is twofold: 1️⃣ How do we quantify this value? 2️⃣ How do we convince our organisations to truly value it? (as opposed to just saying that they do!) As always, I would love to hear your thoughts below ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ And in the meantime, hats off to all those L&D pros out there putting their hearts and souls into just helping other people 👏 👏 👏 PCA Youd Andrews #LearningAndDevelopment #CorporateTraining #ExecutiveEducation #ExperientialLearning #HR #SkillsTraining #ProfessionalDevelopment #SkillsDevelopment

The impact and potential of our public workforce system is limited by outdated and narrow definitions of what it means to "train" and "upskill". Current data systems and capabilities haven't kept pace with what's needed to promote transparency and awareness around in-demand credentials and proven pathways that lead to #qualityjobs. Policies and processes for the Eligible Training Provider List must be revised to more accurately reflect current shifts towards skills-based hiring, XR, asynchronous training experiences, and outcomes-based quality standards. Grateful for the always amazing insights and expertise of Brooke Valle, Josh Copus, Mary Clagett, and David Bradley, and the many dedicated workforce leaders that lent their voices and ideas to this paper as, together, we strive to increase awareness and understanding of the policy barriers impacting #economicmobility for America's workforce. #workforcedevelopment #workforcepolicy #skillstraining #equity https://lnkd.in/eXE4jaEH

Asset Based Consulting is thrilled to have attended the 2024 NSITE/ National Industries for the Blind/NAEPB Training Conference and Expo! It was an incredible opportunity to learn, connect, and explore how partnerships can drive real impact in changing the landscape for the Blind/Low Vision community. We dove into real challenges, such as: *How do we remain competitive as the labor workforce shifts? *How can we create frameworks and training programs that remain top-notch and continue to add value as technology advances and production landscapes change? *How do we set up our employees for all-around success, giving them the confidence and competence to thrive in an integrated, inclusive workforce—with opportunities for up-skilling, retention, and growth? The conversations are already happening. We were blown away by the collaborative partnerships and thought leaders who shared best practices, discussed innovations in marketing and sales, explored shifts in skill development, and looked into newer markets like #CertifiedAccessibilityTesters. There is a need to pursue new market opportunities by being responsive and proactive—asking, How can we help? What do you need to be successful? The need for a culture shift is clear. It’s not about pulling at heartstrings—it’s about educating and reshaping the way the world sees the contributions of Blind/Low Vision employees. Whether in school districts, hospitals, or corporate spaces, it’s time to highlight the backstory behind the products and services we use every day. This means humanizing the work and the workers, unpacking assumptions, and fostering a deeper understanding of the value employees bring. Education, awareness, and strategic partnerships will pave the way for a mindset shift, opening doors to more inclusive employment and growth across industries. The conversations we started at this conference reinforced the power of thought leadership and collaboration in driving this change forward. Let's do this! #NIB #NSITE #NIBConfExp #DisabilityEmployment #CareerDevelopment #AssetBasedConsulting #HelenKellerServices #NYSPSP #AccessibilityOfficer
