❓ Following our Q&A session on March 18th with current #Fulbright participants, here are some responses to questions we were unable to answer during the session. 🎓 Do you have any recommendations on how to search for universities in the United States? "If you are nominated for a #Fulbright award, Amideast will help you to select four universities. There are several factors that determine your university placement options, including academic appropriateness, geographic and institutional diversity, overall program cost. EducationUSA Advising Centers at Amideast field offices and U.S. Embassies throughout the MENA region are there to help you. Some other resources that may help guide your selection include Peterson’s Graduate School Guide, the Princeton Review, and any professional associations in your field of study such as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for business schools." As President of the College Committee, I encountered a pivotal moment where it became clear that our thoughts needed to serve a useful purpose. While organizing our annual cultural fest, our team was ensnared in an unproductive debate about the theme. The ideas varied wildly, from deeply traditional to highly avant-garde, leading to a frustrating stalemate. Recognizing that our endless discussions were becoming counterproductive, I decided to take decisive action. I called an urgent meeting and emphasized the importance of focusing our thoughts on a clear, unifying objective: creating an inclusive and engaging event that resonated with our diverse student body. To bridge the gap between conflicting ideas, I proposed a hybrid theme that skillfully blended elements of both tradition and modernity. This approach not only respected the diverse viewpoints but also harnessed the full creative potential of our team. We transformed our discussions into actionable plans, swiftly delegating tasks, setting firm deadlines, and assigning clear responsibilities. This shift from abstract debate to concrete action was invigorating. The team rallied together with renewed energy and focus, each member contributing their unique strengths towards our common goal. The outcome was nothing short of inspiring. The cultural fest was a resounding success, attracting a record number of participants and earning glowing feedback from students, faculty, and attendees alike. The event celebrated our college’s rich heritage while also embracing contemporary trends, creating a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. This experience was a profound lesson in the power of purposeful thinking. By directing our thoughts towards achieving tangible outcomes, we turned a potential failure into a triumph. It reinforced my belief that for thoughts to be truly valuable, they must be channeled into actions that drive progress and foster unity. This approach not only helped us achieve our task but also left a lasting impact on our college community. #PurposefulThinking #LeadWithPurpose #LeadershipInAction #UnitingIdeas

As alumni of US universities, many of us have often received rare, even transformative educational opportunities, throughout the course of our time engaging with the world at large - we met diverse professors, incredible peers, and learned to see the world with different eyes both as we moved on to new shores and, in some cases, chose to return to our homelands. How have our corporate experiences aligned with our time spent studying and the educational opportunities that we received in the United States? How did that pivotal experience of the liberal arts, professional networking, and our careers shape our lives and, by extension, the way that we live, work, and seek greater ambitions? If we chose to return, why so, and what did the experience bring along the way? No alumnus answers this question the same way, and certainly neither does any professional - for our journeys are each unique and individual. As we head forwards, we realize that this reflection is meaningful, yet realise that the patchwork of experiences that make up the best answer to this question is far too large for a single individual to appreciate. In answering it, we will seek help from our community and will begin by asking some of our speakers for our July 27th event the following question: “In the time that you had spent in America, was there a fondest moment or a moment that you would say was transformative for you? If such a moment did exist, would you share why you felt that it was transformative?” In reflecting on this question and in hoping to refresh and evoke memories, we will start by asking some of our speakers a simple question and, in receiving their responses, look forward to sharing with you. :) Looking forward to meeting with you soon, and we hope you will find this small series of posts insightful even as you look forward to meeting our speakers at our upcoming AUAM-NAMSA Corporate Pathways Summer Networking Dinner! - Admin. The IDP Connect UK & Ireland Insight Day continues and the Hybrid team just attended the insightful student panel discussion. Here you can see our Director of Technology Matthew Crisp jumping on the mic to ask students what they want from a website experience! The panel focused on factors influencing university choices and the experiences of current students. Some key takeaways for our UK university partners -- - Sources of information like university websites, open days, and talking to current students are the most influential. Marketing should engage prospective students where they are online, through social media. - Location, student life, costs, and practical experiences after graduation impact student decisions. University value depends on experiences gained, but debt levels and job prospects after graduating influence views. - Student voices authentically sharing experiences, both positive and negative, help prospective students understand university life realities. Open days led by students provide unique insights beyond academics. Another session of great insights from a great student panel! #Insightday2024

"As a young graduate navigating the dynamic landscape of industry, I often find myself reminiscing about the academic realm. While I thrive in my role, the allure of academia still tugs at my heartstrings, beckoning me with its intellectual pursuits and theoretical explorations. Yet, here in industry, I'm empowered to translate those theories into practical innovations that make a real difference in the world. It's a delicate dance between two worlds, each offering its own set of challenges and rewards. Embracing this duality equipped my growth, allowing me to blend the rigors of academia with the dynamism of industry, shaping a future where knowledge and innovation intersect seamlessly." #YoungProfessional #AcademiaMeetsIndustry #BalancingAct
