We help young people find their route through education into employment, and provide employers access to future talent
About us
We connect young people to a world of career possibilities, inspire them to dream big and empower them to fulfil their potential. We want to equip young people with the experience and skills they will need to succeed in their career of choice, and enable businesses to recruit skilled workers locally. We bridge the gap between these two worlds and help them work together and achieve more. We deliver the skills service for the Greater Cambridge Partnership, linking schools and businesses to build students’ careers awareness and employability skills and to promote apprenticeships. We also provide a mentoring programme, an impartial careers advice service, support work experience placements, and manage STEM outreach programmes, such as Cambridge LaunchPad.

Here's a familiar face! Since he joined us in 2022, the lovely Franck Courbon PhD has visited schools from Cambridge Academy of Science of Technology to Linton Village College, Netherhall Community College to Bottisham Village College, despite a very busy working life involving international delegations, business trips to Japan and running his software solutions company Ethicronics. Today we point the #AmbassadorSpotlight in his direction and ask why he feels it's important to find time around his other priorities to talk to students about what he does...

October 2024 was another impactful month for Form the Future, filled with hands-on learning and inspiring events! Here’s a look at some of our highlights. 🔍 What’s My Line? at Linton Village College – Peter Buncombe and Sonal Keshwala brought career exploration to 140 Year 7 students in a unique way! Instead of conventional presentations, students asked questions to guess the professions of our ambassadors. This interactive approach helps broaden horizons and highlight career paths students may not have previously considered. Huge thanks to our ambassadors, including Charles Tallack, Laura Cooke, Alison Giles, Lois Balfour, and Angus Barnard! 🔬 STEM Project Day at PA Consulting – Students from Cottenham Village College, Impington Village College, and Trumpington Community College spent an exciting day with STEM experts at PA Consulting. They toured state-of-the-art facilities and took on a challenging bridge design project, integrating creative solutions for diverse environments. From garden walkways to shade structures, the students’ designs were nothing short of inspiring! 🗣️ Mock Interviews at Parkside Community College – Preparing for life beyond school, 120 Year 11 and 13 students practised their interview skills last week with our dedicated ambassadors. Thank you to Lady Payan Cepeda, Barry Fuchs, Melvyn Weeks and more for helping students gain valuable real-world experience. 💼 Careers Fair at Comberton Village College – Over 40 apprenticeship providers joined us to share opportunities with 300 Year 10 students. Apprenticeship ambassadors from companies including, Cambscuisine, Carter Jonas, The New Croft, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge Regional College highlighted a range of career pathways and work experience options! ☕ Ambassador Get Together at Kettle's Yard – Our Ambassador community gathered for a session on presentation skills led by David Brockway. This breakfast gathering (organised by Dawn Easby Thwaits and Catherine Hay) offered valuable insights into engaging students effectively and was a wonderful opportunity to connect and share experiences in the beautiful surroundings of Kettle’s Yard. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us early for coffee, pastries, and inspiration! 🌍 SLB’s Cambridge LaunchPad Project Day – Sustainability was the theme at SLB’s second Cambridge LaunchPad Project Day, where 37 students from Kettlefields Primary School explored green energy through hands-on activities. SLB’s experts led workshops on renewable energy, inspiring young learners to think critically about sustainability and our planet’s future - https://lnkd.in/evEXnkT9 Thank you to all our ambassadors, partner organisations, schools, and team members who made October such a success. Here’s to more growth and inspiration in the months ahead! 👏 #CareersEducation #careers #cambridge Anne Bailey

Great to see SLB back again with our Cambridge LaunchPad programme teaching young people in Cambridgeshire the importance of green energy and sustainability. 🌱 Absolutely love this quote from a student during the event! 👇 “Learning about gravity energy made me feel hopeful for humans against climate change.”
Environmental awareness and sustainability took centre stage as SLB, a global technology company, hosted its second Cambridge LaunchPad Project Day for young students in Cambridgeshire. The event, held on Wednesday, 16 October, welcomed 37 Year 5 and 6 students from Kettlefields Primary School for an immersive learning experience focused on the importance of green energy. The project day aimed to inspire young learners to think critically about the future of the planet and embrace eco-friendly practices. SLB’s team of experts created five interactive stations where students engaged in hands-on experiments that demonstrated various forms of renewable energy and key sustainability concepts. SLB commented on the success of the day, saying, “We are delighted to have hosted another successful Cambridge Launchpad event this year. Our dedicated team of volunteers invested significant effort into designing and preparing the science activities for the day. Witnessing the children’s enthusiasm and joy as they engaged in hands-on experiments was incredibly rewarding. It was wonderful to see how curious and eager to learn they were about new energy topics. By sparking their interest in these critical areas, we hope to inspire them to become the future scientists who will drive the shift towards a more sustainable world. Both the SLB scientists and the children had an unforgettable and inspiring day.” Read the full story of this fantastic day below https://lnkd.in/eHU-R7Ri #LaunchIntoSTEM #RenewableEnergy #GreenEnergy Form the Future CIC
