Morning all 😁 today is a press release day as I have four clients with exciting news. So it’s a multiple screen day for me 😂 Nothing bothers me more than people who ‘spray and pray’ with their press releases - media are inundated with irrelevant and boring press releases every day so it’s important to stand out. I use Vuelio as my media database (which all our retained clients then get access to), but I don’t often use it to send press releases as I would rather send a personal email to someone I’ve already made the effort to connect with. Having been through most of the database platforms (some at pretty eye watering prices!), I’m loving this one, the interface is great and the information up to date. All my clients have a curated media database that we work on for them and I take a lot of time researching the publications and the journalists to see what they like writing about and what will be interesting to them. As all of my fellow (and legit) PR bods will agree, if anyone tries to take money off you for a single press release and says you will get coverage (especially without even working on a story for you), run for the hills! That’s not how PR works! #marketing #pr #marketingagency #pragency #digitalmarketing #agencylife

Back in my journalist days, I felt like a press release referee, sorting through countless pitches each day. It was a juggling act, to say the least! But one thing was clear, businesses of all sizes were eager to get their names out there. If you're looking to earn some free publicity, remember that a good press release is like a well-crafted pitch. It needs a hook, a strong narrative, and a clear understanding of your audience. Don't be discouraged if your first few pitches don't hit the mark. Keep refining your approach, and you'll eventually score a home run! https://lnkd.in/gTQvqmBP

"Press Releases don't work!" "No one reads press releases!" "We are not in the 1980s!" These are words from PR agency owners and SEO gurus who either used press releases wrongly in the past or had bad experiences with press releases. Indeed, 97% of press releases that go out on the wire do not earn media coverage. The 3% that do achieve earned media have things in common. These are stories that journalists can work with and turn into an article, an interview, etc. gone are the day's press releases were used for ranking on Google. this is no longer effective. write a press release with a story a journalist can work with, a press release that is not long, boring, and overly promotional. This is how you get that media exposure and credibility you desire. what method have you used to earn media? #media #prrequest #pressreleases

Captain Hook🪝 Post 2 just dropped! 📣 Make sure you are #PR-ready 📣 It illustrates with real-world examples on how the last article’s “Ready-to-launch-and-land PR checklist” can help you avoid missteps (and misallocating resources) 💡 A few pieces of wisdom from the post: “Clear message” cuts a few ways, including being very clear on any claims, implications, or associations in your #messaging that risk trouble in your #product category. Think marketing Miranda: “Anything you say can and will be used against you…” Have someone on your team play aggressive investigative journalist and scrutinize every claim, every term, every ingredient. 🕵️ With a new #brand, #journalists won’t want to focus on you personally until after they know all about your products and see them succeeding on their merits. That buzz must come first. Now, maybe you as an individual can enhance your brand story… if and only if your story is somehow intrinsic to the origin story of the product(s). 🤔 #Media is more visual than ever these days. Having excellent #images to illustrate and promote your product(s) or service(s) is essential before pitching the press. If you give them a great image to use, it absolutely boosts the odds you’ll be featured. (If you have the capacity to give them an #exclusive image or two, that can be even better.) 🖼️ 👉 Read the full piece and subscribe at https://lnkd.in/dYR8Fgx9 ICYMI: Captain Hook 🪝 is the newsletter helping you navigate the #PR trenches to achieve great fortune without having to spend one 💰 Tag someone who could enjoy this read! #CaptainHook #newsletter #media #strategy
