"The GEM Report UNESCO has partnered with the Monitoring and Evaluating Climate Communication and Education Project (#MECCE) to advance global climate change literacy and action. This project has compiled comprehensive country profiles on national education laws and policies related to climate change communication and education. A new set of 30 country profiles (80 in total) explore greening education approaches across all world regions and income levels, covering 75% of the global population. The profiles respond to the need of improving the evidence base on the implementation of national education policies on #climatecommunication and #climateeducation."

On the first, it is clear that education delivery is being affected by climate change, but we need to know more about the specific impacts (where, how, on who) and how to mitigate them. Better and more targeted research is needed to ensure all children continue to receive education as the effects of climate change intensify. On the second, education could play a role in building resilience among populations in the face of climate change, but we have very limited evidence for this and how it might work. The IPCC highlights various educational strategies to address and mitigate climate change. These encompass raising awareness and incorporating climate change education into school syllabi, advocating for gender equity in educational opportunities, utilizing diverse forms of adult and non-formal education like extension services, sharing indigenous and local wisdom, participating in collaborative action research and social learning, leveraging knowledge-sharing platforms, and distributing information on risks and vulnerabilities. 🌍 Just completed the Global Youth Climate Training – an exciting collaboration between The Global Youth Coalition and Oxford Net Zero. 🌟 It wasn't just "my" training; it felt like an inclusive journey for all. 🤝 The best part? This space democratizes climate education with experts from around the world as speakers. 📚 We covered a lot: mitigation, adaptation, resilience, climate policy, climate negotiations, loss and damage and much more. 🌎 What really stood out? organising team was really considerate of multicultural participants and language barriers. Empathy was key, making science accessible to all. 💬 I've been in youth-based spaces for 2 years, and I'm truly amazed by the way youths are democratizing climate education. 🙌 Big congrats to the team behind this training for making education, knowledge, and opportunities available to all. 🎉🌟🌏 #climatesolutions #youthforclimate #youthforchange #adaptation #climatechangeadaptation #lossanddamage #justtransition
