Remember Rougui, one of our Spotlight Children from #Senegal 🇸🇳? We visited her and her family this year to catch up on her learning progress since last year. Rougui, now in grade 3, is learning mathematics and is very happy about it. #FoundationalLearning in primary school is a critical building block for all children to be able to fulfill their potential. However, the #GEMReport, Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), and African Union Spotlight series show that only 1 in 5 children in #Africa will complete primary school and achieve minimum proficiency levels in reading and mathematics. We are following the learning journey of 4 children, aiming to demonstrate through their stories the love they have for learning and what we stand to lose if we don’t invest in their education.
