Remember Rougui, one of our Spotlight Children from #Senegal 🇸🇳? We visited her and her family this year to catch up on her learning progress since last year. Rougui, now in grade 3, is learning mathematics and is very happy about it. #FoundationalLearning in primary school is a critical building block for all children to be able to fulfill their potential. However, the #GEMReport, Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), and African Union Spotlight series show that only 1 in 5 children in #Africa will complete primary school and achieve minimum proficiency levels in reading and mathematics. We are following the learning journey of 4 children, aiming to demonstrate through their stories the love they have for learning and what we stand to lose if we don’t invest in their education. Like all children, Rougui is #BornToLearn! Let's ensure we teach them basic skills! Rougui’s journey ➡️ https://lnkd.in/embffwh8

I was privileged to attend an exam prayer and share a short academic testimony with the students at Campus Africa Dunvista/Wynton Joy. One of the lessons I've been learning through my academic journey is the importance of allowing yourself to be taught, to listen, and to do. No matter how much you think you know, it's crucial to be teachable. This principle has extended beyond my academic life and is integral to what I believe can carve a successful individual. #Upliftedlife#theonlywaytogoisup#campusacfricaexamprayer#JTL

The knowledge gap we have on the African continent today is not ultimately "Subject based".... it's not that we don't know Math, English, Sciences etc but that we have prioritized these so called subjects in our basic education systems above "context" and "current realities" per time!!! We need to redefine what we call "knowledge" in our schools today. Do you agree ?? #africa #africarising #knowledge #contextmastery #education #school #k12 #teach #teacher #teachers #schoolleaders #sdg4

Teaching is at the core of the learning crisis. South Africa needs 25,000 new teachers each year, but only 6,000 teachers are trained annually. Less than 25% of mathematics teachers are competent at the level they teach. #WeAreVoting #SouthAfrica #InternationalEducationDay

Today, we explored addition and subtraction of fractions with the same denominators in our lower primary mathematics class. By fostering a collaborative learning environment, we encouraged our sharp learners to guide their peers, promoting teamwork and deeper understanding. It's inspiring to see the students helping one another grow. #EducationForAll #CollaborativeLearning #MathematicsEducation #TeachingInUnderservedCommunities #InclusiveEducation Teach For Nigeria
