Traditionally, powerful AI models have been confined to cloud environments due to their massive size and computational requirements. AI at Meta represents MobileLLM - a paradigm shift in how we think about AI on mobile devices. It is specifically designed to address the challenges associated with running large language models on devices with limited computational resources, such as smartphones. 💡 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: The innovations and optimizations in MobileLLM make it feasible to deploy these models on smartphones and other mobile devices, transforming how we interact with technology daily. 𝐇𝐨𝐰? According to Meta's Chief AI Scientist Yann LeCun, MobileLLM prioritizes model depth over width. The model applies embedding sharing and grouped-query attention techniques and utilizes a novel immediate block-wise weight-sharing technique, allowing for deeper models without extra memory overhead. What are your thoughts on the future of AI on mobile devices? How do you see compact AI models like MobileLLM transforming your industry? 📄 Share your experiences and let's discuss! All very good points. however th future of computing is not desktops, laptops, tablets or even mobile devices. The future of computing will be spatial computing, googles, wearables and maybe some type of 'box' that will be carried by people. even now i would throw away my phone as far as i could if i could meet my computing needs bt Augmented Reality googles..
Excited to see how this progresses! 🙌
The advancements in MobileLLM highlight how far AI technology has come in terms of accessibility and efficiency. Bringing the power of large language models to mobile devices can revolutionize how businesses and individuals use AI in their daily operations. MobileLLM's techniques could indeed set new standards for mobile AI applications.
I prefer the naming 'SLM' (Small Language Model) instead of MobileLLM, because such small models can be used on embedded systems, too.
Imagine: #AI at Meta "running large language models on devices with limited computational resources, such as smartphones."
That is really, really interesting. LLM's are now becoming mobile 😂
Interesting!
Very informative
Fascinating insights into LinkedIn's anti-spam strategies! It's impressive how they blend proactive and reactive AI defenses to safeguard user feeds. However, I'm curious about the false positive rate of their models—how often do legitimate posts get caught in the spam net? Also, considering the evolving nature of spam tactics, how frequently do they update their AI models? It's clear their efforts are making a positive impact, but continual adaptation is crucial in the ever-changing landscape of online behavior. #AIinSafety #SpamDefense #LinkedInSecurity
