Great fresh annual report on the state of AI is ready!

Fascinating insights into the current state of #artificialintelligence. With a heavy focus on generative and LLM/LMM/SLM. It's fascinating that a prediction for us "running out of (public and human generated) data" for training is currently at 2025, that's awfully close. I'm curious about this on so many levels! Currently, generative AI is mostly combining and reproducing that which it has learned from humans (Gen AI is not creative, as we humans are if you ask me) - how would adding generative AI produced data (synthetic) to training sets impact AI's ability to approximate creativity? One key step towards AGI and super intelligence explosion is recursive self-improvement, would this be a step in that direction? But maybe we don't really need all that data... "In a still largely exploratory work, Microsoft researchers showed that when small language models (SLMs) are trained with very specialized and curated datasets, they can rival models which are 50x larger. They also find that these models’ neurons are more interpretable." What other insights in the report are you most curious about?
