Why I Chose Aviation as a Career My first encounter with aviation was in 2019 when I stepped into an airport for the very first time. I was immediately captivated by the pilots—their uniforms, their professionalism, and the way they carried themselves. That moment sparked a passion in me. Boarding a plane that morning, I found myself in awe of how aircraft could fly, and I was curious about the technology and systems behind it. I remember gazing out of the window, mesmerized by the clouds, and asking my dad if I could become a pilot. His response was, “Finish your first degree, and then you can fly.” That conversation stayed with me. By my third year in university, I had made the decision to pursue flight training. However, I knew this path came with significant financial and educational challenges. I started doing extensive research on what becoming a pilot entails—the training, the responsibilities, and both the rewarding and difficult aspects of the career. To further immerse myself, I secured an internship with an airline, where I gained hands-on experience and insight into aviation from within. I was fortunate to work alongside professionals who were willing to teach and guide me through my journey. The experience only deepened my love for aviation. Now that I’ve completed my degree, my passion for aviation is stronger than ever. Currently, I am serving as an avionics technician during my national service with Air Peace. It’s been a fulfilling experience to contribute to the safety and satisfaction of passengers, knowing that they are in safe hands. Becoming an airline pilot has always been my dream, and I am committed to making that dream a reality. Though the journey ahead is long, I am determined to reach my goal and make both myself and my family proud. If you have any connections within the aviation industry, I would love to connect and learn from your experiences! #Aviation #CareerJourney #PilotInTraining #AviationIndustry #FlightTraining

I'm having a whole new experience. One of the things I felt I couldn't accomplish during my Internship is where I began my Graduate Training at Onedot Aviation. Quality Assurance and Safety (QAS). One of the most important aspects of Aircraft maintenance and repair is Safety. And Quality Assurance is very important to ensure the safety and reliability of Aerospace and Aviation systems. The first and major thing you're going to learn as an Aircraft Maintenance Intern is Safety, and the Quality Assurance department is a key player in ensuring safe and accident free flight operations. You need to know that the Aerospace and Aviation industry is one where precision and accuracy can not be compromised, hence my emphasize on Quality Assurance. From manufacturing to maintenance, QA ensures that every component meets approved Aviation Standards and Regulations set by authorized Aviation Authorities. If not, the consequences could be very critical, with potential accidents, loss of lives and properties. By upholding the highest standards of quality, QA professionals can reduce risks, with increased reliability and safety of aerospace and aviation systems. Having the first stage of my Graduate Training in Aviation QAS marks a significant step forward in my journey within the aerospace industry. I am eager to deepen my understanding of how QA principles contribute to the safety and reliability of aviation systems. Dearest AeroLovelies, Join me in this exciting chapter as we learn about Aviation safety and reliability. Remember, Quality Assurance isn't just following standards. It's about creating a safe flight experience for all. #aerospace #aviation #aircraftmaintenance #qualityassurance

Pooja Umashankar, aims to address the global shortage of engineers in the aviation industry, with industry estimates suggesting a need of approximately 700,000 engineers by 2040. Umashankar, an aviation maintenance engineering student at the University of South Wales, aspires to promote safe air travel for the rapidly expanding aviation industry. However, securing an on-the-job training placement has proven to be challenging. The current shortage of female engineers, representing less than 10% in the UK and 2.8% in the US, could potentially be addressed by encouraging more individuals like Umashankar into the trade. Moreover, the push for more apprenticeships and internships could help combat this pressing need for more engineers in the industry. The ongoing retirement of ageing engineers only underscores the urgency of this issue. #aviation #womeninengineering #futureofaviation

I am excited to share my progress at the Nigerian Airforce Rotary Wing's helicopter hangar! 🚁 Here’s a recap of what I was involved in my first two weeks: 🛠️Maintenance tasks: Under supervision, I helped replace a faulty fuel transfer pump with a new one. After testing, we noticed it wasn’t transferring fuel properly, leading to troubleshooting. We eventually discovered that a hose was missing, which I participated in fixing. Also participated in the changing of the Fuel Control unit in the turboshaft engines of the Super Puma Helicopter. 🔍Routine safety checks: I took part in the weekly FOD (Foreign Object Debris) picking routine—an essential process for maintaining flight safety. 📚Hybrid learning sessions: I attended well taught and supervised practical class on Introduction to aircraft, covering their classifications, components and controls which further broadened my technical knowledge. ⏳Operational exposure: I witnessed the preparation of a helicopter for operation and observed its ground running process—fascinating to see up close! 🦺Technical tasks: With guidance, I assisted in loosening and tightening nuts and screws on the cabin floor panels of two helicopters, learning the importance of precision in technical work. 💡New skills: I learned wire locking, a critical skill in securing components in aviation, all while being closely supervised to ensure accuracy. 📖Courses: I completed an Aircraft Maintenance Safety Course focused on general flight safety and also attended a 5-day 'Health and Safety in the Workplace' course. This internship has been a tremendous learning experience with excellent guidance throughout. I’m excited to continue growing and gaining more hands-on skills! #internship #aviation #engineeringinternship #helicoptermaintenance #aviationsafety #learningandgrowth"
