Pride Month is over, and we are glad to see more and more colleagues reaffirm with us the commitment to supporting LGBTQI+! This year Generali joined parades in Luxembourg, Munich, Paris, Milan, Bratislava, and Prague, a movement that keeps growing, inspiring us all to stand together for inclusion. With this participation, we promote the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, which are among the priorities of the 'Lifetime Partner 24: Driving Growth' strategy. "Pride" is first of all about promoting an inclusive and respectful environment, in which everyone feels comfortable and free to be themselves, and therefore valued and able to unleash their full potential. Our inclusion workshops strike a balance between data and emotions. We connect individual people’s stories to the broader experience for many people of color and foreign-born people working in Sweden. We love this feedback from Marina Amâncio, who attended our workshop with Securitas Group late last year. “Watching Greg Fernando’s and Arjan Verdooren's presentation was like seeing my experience as a foreigner in Sweden represented in numbers. It was a confirmation that what I go through is real and that other people are encountering the same challenges. The workshop made me feel seen, and having it done together with my colleagues in our company meant a lot to me.” Her words touch on an important aspect of inclusion for companies. Employees from marginalized backgrounds can see when their employers invest time and effort into creating a more inclusive work environment. And, conversely, they notice if that effort is not being made. Yesterday, our North Eastern DE&I (diversity, equity & inclusion) team came together for an empowering face-to-face brainstorming session at the Tampere plant, and what a meeting it was! Joined by the incredible Michela Testa, who leads DE&I efforts in Italy, we delved into meaningful discussions and explored innovative approaches to further our DE&I goals in the NE region. Here's a quick overview of the key highlights and takeaways from our session: 🔹 Michela shared invaluable insights into the DE&I initiatives implemented in Italy, providing us with inspiration and best practices to adapt to our context. 🔹 We discussed the possibility of organizing more frequent discussion sessions throughout the year, with a focus on monthly meetings to keep the momentum going. 🔹 Communication strategies were examined to ensure that our DE&I efforts are effectively communicated across the organization. 🔹 We collectively defined what Inclusion and DE&I mean specifically in our NE region, setting a clear direction for our future actions. Overall, it was a highly productive and insightful meeting, filled with dedication, and a shared commitment to driving positive change within our organization. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, and a special thanks to Michela for her invaluable contributions. Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging was on the agenda this last Friday at AIG Denmark, where employees engaged in a workshop and focus groups discussing real-life scenarios and dilemmas. The purpose of our event was: “How do we promote a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages inclusion and cultivates a culture of belonging”. Yes I know - ambitious title 😉 and even though we may not be left with all the answers, I am confident that we have started some important reflections. I have definitely gained some cultural and generational insights. It also got me thinking 🤔. Even if we strive for a workplace that goes beyond ‘diversity of thought’, creating work environments where individuals feel valued and essential to our organisational success is inherently also a psychological safe environment that welcomes a variety of perspectives. Can striving for employee equity and a culture of belonging be the means to the successful inclusion of diverse individuals? I don’t know, but I am convinced that this sense of community and connection creates collaborative, engaged and committed employees.
