🌍 Exciting developments in the world of technology governance emerged from the recent Disruptive and Emerging Technology Alliance (DETA) Ministerial Summit held in Barcelona on November 6-7. Massachusetts Technology Services and Security Secretary Jason Snyder had the honor of attending as the only state-level Chief Information Officer from the U.S. Joining him was Chief Technology Officer William Cole, where they engaged in crucial conversations about the ethical usage of emerging technologies. One of the key outcomes of the summit was the signing of a policy statement advocating for responsible AI, aimed at being shared with international regulatory bodies such as the UN and EU. This move has garnered praise from Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, who highlighted Snyder’s commitment to establishing Massachusetts as a leader in responsible technological advancement. DETA comprises 17 governments, all dedicated to upholding democratic values and human rights while exploring how technology can enhance equity and service delivery. Snyder reiterated the importance of visionary leadership in this space, showcasing how collaborative efforts can lead to improved citizen services through ethical AI. As we navigate the transformative impact of technology on society, discussions about its ethical implications are more critical than ever. What are your thoughts on ensuring responsible AI usage? 🔍 On the 17 September, the Club Diplomatique de Genève, the Geneva Graduate Institute | Executive Education, the Tech Hub | Geneva Graduate Institute, and Trust Valley came together to launch a new event series: the 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬. To kick off this new initiative, we discussed on one of the most pressing challenges in today’s digital landscape—How do we build trust in AI? AI is transforming industries, but with that transformation comes the responsibility to ensure these technologies are designed and implemented in ways that are fair, transparent, and human-centered. Trust in AI isn’t just a technical issue—it’s deeply intertwined with ethics, accountability, and governance. During this event, Jérôme Duberry, Corneliu Bjola, Raymond Loretan, Benedikt Wechsler and Lennig Pedron explored key questions at the intersection of AI & diplomacy. - What steps must we take to ensure AI respects fundamental human rights? - How do we combat biases and ethical concerns in AI development? - How can we make sure that the benefits of AI are shared by all and not just the privileged few? Watch the event at: https://lnkd.in/djHTKrKR Building trust in AI requires open dialogue, collaboration, and a commitment to creating a future where technology serves everyone and we’re excited to continue these conversations together during the Trust Valley Day 2024 with the Panel discussion "Trust & AI: What future lies ahead?"🌍 Request an invitation to the Trust Valley Day 2024 now : https://lnkd.in/gvpr-2XZ #TrustValleyCH #TechDiplomacy #TrustInAI #AIforGood
