Such an amazing start to Goodwood Festival of Speed today. We have the pleasure of hosting an exhibit in the Future Lab tent and have had a great time welcoming people from all walks of life so far. Our stand features a Pulsar Side Scan Sonar and GeoSwath 4 transducer as well as #USV models from both ACUA Ocean and Unmanned Survey Solutions. We also have GEBCO - General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans Seabed 2030 with us as it's important to show the end result of the data that our products capture below the surface. This is a big milestone for us! When I was coming up with the idea for Rangair I wanted ensure it was something that inherently made people's lives better. I wanted to know that every day when I come to work I am helping people. I see this as another way to live out the Bible verse "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31). Rangair is focused on delivering broadband communications to public safety teams in remote areas or disaster response. However, the XPRIZE Wildfire competition exposed a larger opportunity - to reduce the presence of destructive wildfires from their start. These destructive wildfires (in contrast with low-intensity fires like prescribed burns) destroy valuable property, cost millions of taxpayer dollars, and hurt people. We are continuing to build our Airborne Broadband solution at full-throttle, however we're also diversifying our efforts to explore this more foundational opportunity. We plan to do this through partnership in part (so we can continue to focus on our areas of strength). This will be an exciting journey as work to help people both through broadband communications and through this more foundational solution to destructive wildfires!
We're excited to announce that XPRIZE's judges have selected Rangair as one of the Qualified Teams in the #XPRIZEWildfire Autonomous Wildfire Response competition! Through our participation in this competition, we hope to shorten the time for detection, decision-making, and rapid response to wildfires before they become destructive. As one of 29 progressing teams we get a share in the $750k milestone prize purse, as well as an opportunity to compete in the next phase of the competition. Our proposed solution combines our Airborne Broadband system with several other innovative technologies to quickly deliver targeted suppression under the tree canopy.
