🌍 Challenging Misconceptions About Geography as an Academic Subject 🌍 As Geography educators, we sometimes face the misconception that our subject isn't as "academic" as others, particularly when compared to History or the Sciences. At Whitgift, we've seen this firsthand and wanted to tackle it head-on. This year, we've launched a bi-weekly newsletter highlighting geography in the news, linking current events directly to the schemes of work we teach. This initiative has helped students see the real-world relevance of geography and understand its academic rigour. But, I’m interested to hear from other geography teachers and departments: How do you address the misconception that Geography isn’t as academic as other subjects? Let’s start a conversation and share strategies that can help us continue to elevate our subject. #GeographyMatters #Education #TeachingStrategies #GeographyInTheNews #Academia #EdChat #CurriculumInnovation
