Yesterday was the first day of the Zwarte Cross edition 2024. A total of over 265,000 visitors (event sold-out) will come to Lichtenvoorde during the coming weekend. The festival has grown into a four-day event. GeoJunxion BV is, once again, supporting the Red Cross, in the delicate first aid activities, providing a custom mapping solution of the event area to their thousands of volunteers. The goal is to help them in identifying and reaching the destinations of possible emergencies, significantly reducing the emergency response reaction time. https://lnkd.in/e_HeKPyv

Yesterday, I belatedly shared the incredible achievements of our para-athletes, and today, a friend reminded me of another group of heroes—the Indian firefighters who shone brightly at the 15th World Firefighter Games in Denmark! To my surprise, I knew nothing about this event. I don’t always follow the news closely. In fact, to be honest, I didn’t even know such a thing as the World Firefighter Games existed! When I think of firefighters, it’s mostly scenes from US sitcoms or the familiar sound of fire trucks (mainly in the 90s movie) showing up after the action has ended. Yes, I know Indian firefighters exist—but like many middle-class Indians, they often feel like part of a distant world. We tend to steer clear of interactions with firefighters and police unless absolutely necessary. But here’s the truth: these brave men and women risk their lives daily to protect us, often without the recognition they truly deserve. Their courage, skill, and dedication are nothing short of extraordinary. Learning about their victories in Denmark opened my eyes to the grit and determination they bring, not only to their profession but also to competing at an international level. It’s time we shine a spotlight on their achievements and bring these stories of resilience and excellence into the forefront. Day 167. 134+ hostages are still being held captive by Hamas (and affiliates). One of the hostages still being held is Shlomi Ziv (now 41). On October 7, Shlomi was taken hostage while working as a security usher at the Nova festival. Shlomi did not carry ammo. Before being taken hostage, Shlomi spoke to his sister Adi. Shlomi told her terrorists were shooting and rocket sirens were blaring, but that he and his team were at their cars and heading home; he also told his sister that there was bottleneck of cars trying to flee the festival. The last Shlomi’s family heard from him, Shlomi was speaking with his other sister Revital. He was breathing heavily and told her he’d call her back. He didn’t have a chance to call her back. Shlomi lives in Moshav Elkosh with his wife (Miren). Shlomi deserves to come home. Bring Shlomi home. Bring them all home. Demand the release of the hostages. #releasethehostages #bringthemhomenow
