This direct approach may not always be feasible. Sometimes, colleges cannot provide training opportunities for all students, or the distribution may be mandatory, making it difficult to choose a placement that aligns with one's interests. In such cases, seeking training independently is a viable solution. This can be done by: Exploring internship opportunities in companies through their websites. Many companies post internship openings directly on their websites, often recurring annually. Engaging directly with company representatives on LinkedIn. Typically, the required documents include proof of enrollment from the college, obtainable from student affairs, and a CV. While a strong CV is not necessarily required for internships, it demonstrates your interest and activity in the field, which can be evidenced through extracurricular activities and a good academic record. We'd like to hear about your internship experiences and how you secured them. Where did you intern, and how did you navigate the process? #summertraining #training #internship #geomaze #geology #geophysics #geoscience #petroleum

Summer training serves as the experiential learning opportunity prior to graduation. It provides students with the chance to familiarize themselves with the field they will be working in after graduation, allowing them to train in a real work environment. Moreover, it enhances students' understanding of the theoretical knowledge they have studied in their specialization. It trains students to shoulder responsibilities and adhere to deadlines, while also teaching them how to interact with people outside the university environment, fostering respect for others' opinions. Furthermore, it equips students with the skills to face and overcome obstacles in the workplace, familiarizes them with the equipment and tools used in the industry, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application. Summer training also offers institutions the opportunity to evaluate students' performance during the training period and assess how they have benefited from it, potentially leading to employment opportunities post-graduation. Of course, the significance of summer training depends on the nature of the internship placement, and this remains subject to further discussion and debate. #summertraining #training #internship #geomaze #geology #geophysics #geoscience #petroleum

4 Days Internship with Japan Space Systems. I would like to express my thanks to JICA for their unwavering support towards the success of my internship. Sincere appreciation to supervisor Mr Namakura san and Mr Takeda san for their mentorship during this training program. Understanding the use of remote sensing and GIS techniques is very crucial in environmental monitoring in mining affected areas. Remote sensing can also be used to identify potential mineral deposits in a specified area.. #remotesensing&GIS

Day 2: Challenging Moment One of my most challenging moments occurred during my internship at my department's laboratory. Our Head Of Department assigned us the task of mapping all the boreholes on campus, all within a maximum of three weeks. We were a group of three people. Although the necessary equipment was provided, the magnitude of the task left us unsure where to begin. We started the task with high hopes, managing to locate a few boreholes and record their coordinates and other geological parameters. Everything was running smoothly initially. However, the real difficulty arose when we faced lengthy and complex processes to access detailed information about the boreholes. Additionally, we had to walk several kilometres under the scorching sun for the entire three weeks. The pressure from our Head Of Department to complete the task was overwhelming, and there were moments when we felt like giving up. Despite the challenges, we persisted and ultimately succeeded in mapping numerous boreholes, documenting their coordinates, locations, and other geological parameters. This experience taught us the importance of perseverance and determination. Despite the urge to quit, we pushed through and achieved our goal. It serves as a reminder that no matter how daunting a task may seem, with persistence and hard work, success is attainable. I hope this will inspire us to keep going, even when the odds may be against you. #GeologicalEngineeringStudent #Onlinebranding #LinkedInwithAbena #ContentCreationChallenge

WHAT DOES 'IT'S A GREAT/WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE' REALLY MEANS TO INTERNS ? The above is a very common phrase posted by students doing their internship in near-surface geophysics (NSG). More often than not, that particular phrase refers to their excitement on given the opportunity to handle the sophisticated geophysical equipment for the first time ! They are more fascinated with the equipment rather than learning the fundamentals of the geophysical methods. It's my cheeky self always poking them with questions when I encountered such posts. I'll comment and query them on some basic principles on the geophysical methods that they have been exposed to just to know how much they have learnt. It will always end up with silence and even to the extent of the posts being deleted. Internship is to prepare students for the real working life. They should be thoroughly guided to the basic principles of the geophysical methods. It's not only to demonstrate the use of the equipment. They should start from the basics before progressing to other work sequences. If they do not have a good grasp of the fundamentals of the methods, it's pointless to proceed further. Well, I don't totally blame them though. I believe it's the responsibilities of the company where they are attached to, to guide and teach them. These would help to prepare them well when they join the industry. As for the interns, they also need to be proactive by asking a lot of questions so that can they can learn as much as possible during their short stint undergoing their internship program. Do not waste your internship opportunity to build knowledge and skills prior to entering the job market.

🌟 Thrilled to Share My Latest Summer Research Adventure! 🌟 🔍 Internship Details: Completed a summer research internship under Dr. Soumyajit Mukherjee, Prof. Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Bombay (July-August). 🚗 Research Focus: Explored the transition from conventional fossil fuel vehicles to electric and hybrid options. Analyzed key government policies, including the Automotive Mission Plan (#AMP) and #FAME (#Phase-I &II) initiatives, assessing their effectiveness in promoting electric & Hybrid Electric vehicle adoption. 🌍 Relevance to Geophysics: While not traditional Geology or Geophysics, this research is crucial for us as geophysicists. Understanding energy transitions informs our approach to resource management and environmental stewardship. 🤝 Industry Perspective: This research aims to explore how diverse energy sources can coexist, rather than oppose the oil and gas industry. By examining the roles of electric and hybrid vehicles alongside traditional fuels, we can contribute to a balanced energy landscape. 📊 Key Findings: Highlighted industry challenges and showcased statistical evidence of the positive impacts on EV and hybrid vehicle sales. 🙏 Gratitude: A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mukherjee for his invaluable mentorship throughout this journey! 💡 Looking Ahead: This summer experience has deepened my understanding of the interplay between technology, policy, and sustainability. I’m eager to apply these insights as I continue my studies in geosciences! #SummerInternship #IITBombay #EarthSciences #Sustainability #ElectricVehicles #Gratitude #EnergyTransition
