"It takes a village to raise a child" is a well-known proverb that could also apply to treating chronic conditions, particularly pain. It's seems quite common to hear patients report they're no better after weeks of therapy or after session after session of the same intervention - and upon being asked if their therapist changed their treatment when they failed to improve, patients commonly say, "not really." Whether a patient has a condition where improvement will only slowly be experienced over weeks of carrying out their prescribed home program, or they have a condition which should significantly improve rapidly within hours or a few days of initiating their home program, a quality clinician should adjust the frequency and equip the patient to understand what the expected response is. We shouldn't be guilty of visit after visit of the same thing with no symptom or function change experienced... #changemymind #jasonwardpt #mckenziemdt #physicaltherapy #improvement
