It's disappointing how people see a group that clearly says voluntary participation, i.e zero pay, you join and then proceed to guilt tripping or smooth talking the group into getting paid. Volunteering involves using your 3Ts - Time, Talent and Treasure, if you can't afford it at the time, please, DO NOT VOLUNTEER, you will only frustrate others. Because they will keep begging you to do what you had promised. NOTE: Volunteering is not the Same as Internship Please. #volunteeropportunity #volunteering #volunteeringNOTinternship

Medical Student || Health care policy and administration enthusiast || Campus Journalist || I utilize creativity for Social Impact.
From this session by Terry Otieno, one thing that stood out for me was the statement "Advocacy is persuasive and not confrontational". I learned that in advocacy, one has to integrate persuasion in crafting proper communication and advocacy plans that would yield results and gain the attention of the required stakeholders and policymakers. Your level of persuasion is directly proportional to the level of attention your advocacy goals and objectives would get👌. #publichealth #advocacy #communications
Our next internship training session on Advocacy Planning will be held this Saturday at 8:00 PM WAT. The session will be facilitated by Terry Otieno, an activist at the UN and the Global Focal Point in the Sendai Stakeholder Children and Youth Group. It promises to provide valuable insights into advocacy planning strategies, equipping our interns with the necessary skills to drive impactful change.

Community Service & Volunteering! Is it really unpaid? In the world today, money is almost regarded as the highest form of value you can get from doing a job or fulfilling a task. But money is usually the least value we get from completing a job, because money is meant to be exchanged for other things with greater worth and value. For me, I believe the most value we get from doing a job, task or project is the knowledge we get, the relationships we build and the memories that lingers. As I continue my work with Nixerlex Youth Development Foundation, I realize more fully my own potentials and the joy I get from such service is enough value that money can’t offer. So perhaps the next time you have an opportunity to volunteer, serve others or just maybe an unpaid internship opportunity, I suggest you look forward to the intangible values that are worth more than money. #NYDF #NixerlexYouthDevelopmentFoundation #Volunteering #CommunityService

Supporting ADHD and ND business owners in their businesses recognise their superpowers and be their best selves. ADHD | Neurodiversity | Training | Consultation | Education
A brilliant blog from one of our new apprentices!
Founder, Chief Executive Officer & Activator at Celebrate Difference Ltd. | Founder MINT Business Club | Building communities for people to thrive | ADHD Champion
I wanted to share this blog post from one of our our apprentices Alex Howard It makes for an interesting read about how it impacts a young person, who happens to be Neurodiverse, when applying for literally 100s of jobs and getting nowhere. Alex's determination to get a job, via volunteering first shows his determination and spirit. One of our key values Celebrate Difference ADHD is to offer opportunities when we can to give young people meaningful employment. Alex has spoken honestly about how daunting it was joining us and it has been incumbent on US as the employer to create an environment where he can be himself and learn. Thanks Alex for writing the blog post, it'll help give other employers a moment for pause and inspire other young people to keep trying. Grateful and blessed to say that I've started my summer internship with the Canadian Centre of Housing Rights where I will be conducting in-depth legal research concerning housing rights and keeping track of relevant legislation. Alongside that, I'll be working with clients by providing them with legal information concerning their tenancy concerns. Excited to see where this summer will lead me in terms of better understanding the intersectionality of social justice issues and how I will grow in my own advocacy! 😁 #LegalResearch #CCHR #Advocacy #SocialJustice

Igniting Young Hearts: The Power of Summer Volunteerism Imagine this, a world where our students not only excel academically but also become compassionate, engaged citizens. It sounds like a dream, right? Well, it's not just a dream; it's the potential of summer volunteer opportunities. Summer break is often seen as a time for relaxation and rejuvenation, but it's also a golden chance to instill in our students the importance of giving back. By encouraging volunteerism, we're not just filling their schedules; we're nurturing their souls. Volunteering can spark empathy, build character, and create a sense of belonging. It's a powerful way to teach students the value of helping others while developing essential life skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. So, let's make this summer count. Let's inspire our students to become agents of change, one act of kindness at a time. How can we empower our students to make a difference this summer through volunteerism?
