🌍 The craft of building with earth has been practised in many parts of the world for centuries. Now, this tradition, combined with modern technology, is at the forefront of contemporary construction. 📹 Meet Yara Tayoun, the Academic coordinator for the post-graduate in 3D-printing architecture at 🇪🇸 the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia. Her team produced TOVA, the 2023 winner of the 🇪🇺 #NewEuropeanBauhaus Prizes, using earth and a WASP crane to build the first 3D-printed housing prototype. 🥇 Winning the NEB Prizes enabled Yara and IAAC to connect with different EU actors involved in earth constructions and biomaterials. 🧑🔬 Together, they are exploring ways to make this technology more open-source and to adapt 3D-printing construction to diverse cultures, geographies, and climates. 🙋♂️ Do you have a project that can contribute to transforming our built environment, fostering sustainability and circularity? What influence do indoor climate, air quality, architecture and work organisation have on the recovery of patients in hospitals? 🏥 Scientists from #TUBraunschweig, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin are investigating this in an interdisciplinary research project. "The influence of building structures on the health of patients is often underestimated," says Prof. Wolfgang Sunder from the Institute of Construction Design, Industrial and Health Care Building (IKE) at TU Braunschweig. The location of a building alone is relevant, for example when it comes to the risk of heat stress. (Four) visions of integrated habitats in the Netherlands April 2nd, Opening at 17.00, BK Talks at 18.00 The exhibition "Room for Housing" in the Netherlands tackles the pressing issue of housing shortage as part of a broader spatial puzzle that includes energy transition, climate adaptation, circularity, industry, agriculture, infrastructure, and nature. TU Delft’s Vision Team Wonen, a multidisciplinary expert group, has gathered recommendations on the Dutch housing challenge. This led to the advisory report “Ruimte voor Wonen: Naar een integrale aanpak van de Nederlandse woonopgave” (Space for Living: Towards an integrated approach to the Dutch housing challenge). The exhibition “Room for Housing” accompanies the report, providing a visual representation of the future that these recommendations can lead to, through four visualisations commissioned to recent graduates from our Faculty. Join us in the Oostserre on April 2nd for the exhibition opening, followed by a BK Talks.
