Delighted to share our latest paper from the NI-HEART group led by Dr Gerard Walls from Queen's University Belfast and Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. 📢 The key novel findings are: ➡ Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a common form of radiotherapy induced ❤️ toxicity in patients with NSCLC ➡ The pulmonary veins maybe the source of AF post-radiotherapy (to our knowledge, this has not been described before) ➡ The radiotherapy dose to the pulmonary veins are associated with probability of AF in this study. Of course it can be hard to avoid the pulmonary views delivering radiotherapy to the thorax, but perhaps we had optimise other risk factors. 🔗 To paper: https://lnkd.in/eSUdNgfH
