The only place where Success comes before Work... is in the dictionary! Organising a conference requires a lot of work. Creating the idea, the best CBTC conference in history, great. Planning out three global sessions (Asia Pacific, North/South America, Europe & Middle East) with time coordination across eight different time zones, so that at least one person can survive hosting all three of them. And then curating a panel of 18 highly interesting presentation topics, covering all regions equally. Topics that would ME want to attend this conference, if I wasn't hosting it already. But all that was the easy part. Now comes the hustle, the networking, the convincing of top calibre CBTC professionals, all busy like you wouldn't believe, to prepare an original 45-minute presentation on top of all their daily obligations. The dealing with setbacks if a planned speaker first commits but later pulls out, replacing vacant slots without compromising quality. And of course the advertising to let people know this conference is a must-attend for anyone with an interest in CBTC. There are big teams of volunteers doing that stuff for other conferences. Or professional organisations, specialised in event management. I'm organising the CBTC World Summit 2023 on 20-21 September BY MYSELF! Is that even possible? Oh yeah, watch me! This event with its raft of extraordinary expert speakers and its out-of-this-world-ballsy organiser deserves a big audience.
