I’m Hernani, a nature sports enthusiast who finds a lot of joy in climbing rocks and immersing myself in the great outdoors, whether it’s wandering through the woods for a long time, strolling along a river, or even soaking up the sun on the beach. Those easy things simply make me truly happy. I spend my life in a quiet area in the mountains of Portugal, taking care of my small farm, my family, and my beloved dogs and cats. At this point in my life, I am genuinely content to embrace and enjoy the beauty that my country has to offer. 🐶🐱 Due to that, the possibility to work fully remotely that Starfish offers is vital for me, allowing me to stay in my peaceful corner and on my little piece of land without having to go anywhere. However, what truly sets Starfish apart for me is not just the remote work aspect. At Starfish, I don't feel like I'm working for the company; I feel like I'm working with the people at Starfish. This distinction is crucial. In our organization, there's no hierarchical pyramid; instead, there's a cohesive mesh where reaching out to anyone is seamless, without bureaucratic hurdles. 🤝🌐 This unique structure not only sets us apart in terms of strength and adaptability but also creates a more enjoyable work environment. I engage in high-profile projects with major companies, all within the atmosphere of a small, friendly dev shop, which I genuinely appreciate! 🛠️ Being a nature lover, I recognize that technological advancements have contributed to the environmental challenges we face today. However, I firmly believe that technology can also be the solution. Listen for yourself what he has to say. 🚀 “Hey, my name is Muhammed, and since October 2021, I am contributing to various projects of Starfish as a software engineer. Working at Starfish has been uniquely rewarding for me due to several reasons. Foremost, the flexibility in work hours and location allows me to manage my life more freely, balanced and effective. I can work in environments where I'm most productive. This flexibility comes hand in hand with the support and collaboration of smart, hardworking colleagues who not only motivate me to excel, but also create a nurturing environment for innovation and creativity where I can feel very good. 🤝💡 The diversity of areas and challenges that I face at Starfish keeps my daily tasks engaging and gives me the freedom I need to develop gradually. It involves, for example, the encouragement of independent problem-solving and strategic thinking within the groups.
