Staying ahead means being open to new ideas. For example, we were working with a leading EHR tech company. They used to stick with hiring from big organizations, only focusing on reps selling into providers and health systems. It worked fine for a while. But with healthcare shifting towards value-based care and other innovative models, the way they went to market needed to evolve. We suggested they consider candidates from the digital healthcare space. These folks bring a different perspective, having sold digital products that transform industries, unlike the company's legacy tech. It was a bit of a gamble, but it paid off. We helped them hire three top players who injected fresh ideas and energy into the team. Sometimes, thinking outside the box in hiring can lead to great results. THREE questions I'm being asked about my new job, with answers Q: What is a Transformation Officer? A: The role is about change. Not for it's own sake, but based on the identified needs of a global law firm; about looking at what's happening, what isn't, what needs to happen and then devising a way to make it happen. It's a really exciting position which is new for the firm and for me. Q: Oh, cool! What sort of things do you look at? A: Business issues that the global managing partner and executive committee have determined are priorities. Two examples in my case are working with the relevant senior leaders on reviewing aspects of culture (ED&I and wellbeing) as well as furthering our strategic aims and investigating opportunities in the Middle East. In that sense, "who we are and where we are going".... Q: So, change is imminent? A: That's not the way to look at it. Harneys is a sophisticated leading offshore firm, with a rich history of serving its clients. It's about us carefully considering what's already happening and where things can be tweaked. Deeper changes require greater analysis, reflection and consensus. Where we see that as necessary, we will move to implementing sustainable changes. And we are hiring too..👀

Too often, we neglect the fact that top performers are the ones who ask questions and activate critical thinking that can expose weaknesses in a strategy or reveal an alternate path. We grow through questioning. Understanding this point creates the scaffolding that helps determine how to increase personal satisfaction or the company’s market share, grow our customer base, help increase product usage, or drive renewals. If you seek growth, you need to stimulate critical thinking. For that, you need powerful questions. Hiring talent capable of asking thoughtful questions is the key to building successful teams.
