Clean Slate 🧼 To all the Dealers that are getting ready to make your way to NADA, be prepared to get wined and dined by Vendors and their shiny new tools. Some of you will connect with some of your past and present vendor partners, LinkedIn connections you have never met in person, or people you have admired from afar. If you’re brave enough, you might be able to stop some of those people you admire and get a selfie 🤳 haha! Sadly, I won’t be able to make it to NADA this year, due to some prior engagements that I committed to a year ago. I know, I know…Freaking sucks #fomoalert Although, I won’t be there to pump you all up, just know I’m with you all in spirit. Now cautiously I’ll warn you all, as you are drinking the Kool Aide in Vegas, just remember why you are there. Manage your time wisely. Have a plan on exactly what vendors you are looking to find more information about. Set appointments for one on one meetings before, during, and after the show. Prioritize your Time and maximize every conversation as much as possible. Don’t get caught up with “TIME VAMPIRES!” Most importantly, Conduct professionalism at all times, someone is always watching your every move. There's Power in the Pivot! We were 48 hours from the start of our most recent conference #TSPLive2024 when we found out that the main keynote, who we marketed the entire event around, was unable to attend. After six months or promoting the return of Magic Johnson to TSP Live we received the heartbreaking news that he wouldn't be able to join us and the timing put us in a major crunch. Our team was on site setting up registration, the A/V team was finalizing the production elements and attendees were literally arriving and checking into the host hotel, just as we got the bad news. But... within that 48 hours we were able to execute a major pivot that included: - Securing a new speaker (Daymond John) the audience would be just as excited about. - Not letting the word get out until we had a solution in place. - Communicating the information in a way that instead of causing concern or frustration instead created excitement. There were three key elements that allowed us to pull off an epic moment in TSP history. 1. Having great team and vendors that immediately looked for solutions instead of focusing too heavily on the problem. 2. Leveraging long-standing relationships to speed up the process. 3. Keeping calm as we worked out logistics for what needed to happen next. I'll tell more about what happened behind the scenes for the TSP documentary we "might" release for our ten year anniversary in 2025. Until then always remember that there's power in the pivot!
