How can we recognize, understand and predict pedestrian behavior for developing autonomous vehicles that can safely and effectively function in the urban context? Initial work by my post-docs and students (Jia Huang, Peng Jiang, Alvika Gautam) in our lab tries to answer this by using GPT-4V #openai #gpt4 #autonomousvehicles Our findings reveal that GPT- 4V exhibits significant promise in interpreting and predicting pedestrian behavior within complex traffic scenarios. It can figure out variety of pedestrian actions and effectively analyze group dynamics. While it does work well in multiple situations, it still has issues with consistency as well as reliability.
