According to statistics, the global MDI maintenance equipment totaled 2.86 million tons recently, accounting for 27% of the global total production capacity. The international giants declared force majeure this time, among which China's production capacity was the largest, reaching 1.99 million tons/year, accounting for 69% of the global production capacity of this force majeure. The Netherlands only has 470,000 tons, and Hungary only has 400,000 tons. This concentrated maintenance of the MDI production capacity of the global international giants may have a great impact on the Chinese #MDI market. #MDI #TDI

MDST Chart of the Week: Capacity on the Gulf & ISC – FE trade lane is expected to increase by 4% in 2024Q2 compared with 2023Q2. During the same period, significant changes are expected in the Europe & Med – FE and Europe & Med – Gulf & ISC – FE trade lanes, with the former up by 24% and the latter down by 27%. Going after #TSMC? South Korea Allegedly Approves National-Level Advanced #Packaging Development Plan In a bid to catch up with leading players like #TSMC, the #SouthKorean government is said to have approved a national-level initiative aimed at actively promoting the development of advanced chip packaging technologies, according to a report from South Korean media outlet TheElec. Citing anonymous sources, the report on April 30th indicates that the feasibility of the aforementioned plan has passed the preliminary examination conducted by the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (#KISTEP). According to reports, the preliminary review targeted a national-level project with a value exceeding KRW 50 billion, with direct government sponsorship exceeding KRW 30 billion.
