The Italian MVNO PosteMobile has extended its wholesale agreement deal with Vodafone PosteMobile, the mobile virtual network operator (#MVNO) of the Italian postal service provider Poste Italiane has extended its wholesale agreement with Vodafone Italia till end of 2028. The MVNO operates as a #FullMVNO in Italy and is a lighthouse when it comes to #postalMVNOs with a distinctive positioning combining Telco and Financial Services. PosteMobile ended 2022 with 4,814,904 subscribers. Gross additions was 1,027,652 and ARPU (€/SIM) was €4,54. Revenue from payment and mobile was €319 million https://lnkd.in/ggwfRcfY

Customers who will buy airtime at a mobile phone shop will now buy through Mpesa Customers who will visit a cloth shop will buy the same cloth online and have it delivered home Customers who will visit a banking hall either to open a bank account or do transactions will do the same at comfort of their mobile phones Customers who use to visit local food restaurant will order the same food online and eat at home. What matters now is how creative we become in marketing and in supply chain.

Big announcement from Virgin Media 02 on launching a wholesale fixed netco challenger to Openreach. Interesting they specifically mentioned this being a platform for potential future consolidation and "financing optionality", which sounds as if it might be open to private investment, as was the case with its nexfibre jv (which will remain independent). Under the plans, Virgin Media 02's retail fixed business will become netco's wholesale customer and netco will continue with the fibre network upgrade. Upgrading the network is one (difficult) thing, executing consistently and reliably on service provisioning, maintenance, customer service/effective communications etc. will be no less difficult. As a retailer, Virgin Media 02 is the most complained about broadband, landline and pay TV provider (mostly around its complaint handling). It'll be interesting to see whether other major ISPs are interested in hopping on to the netco network.

Competition to attract customers using point cards has intensified in Japan. A number of companies offer point cards, including Rakuten Points, T Points, D Points, and others. In a market where there are many competing companies, the Sumitomo Mitsui Group has partnered with T Point and entered the new market as V Point. The strength of V Points is that it is based on the Visa card, which has over 100 million merchants around the world. In Japan, it has become commonplace to present a point card at each store and accumulate points when shopping. It is the customer's choice which point card to use.
