Proud to have our Optus Wholesale Service Management and Operational Excellence team roll up their sleeves last month at Save the Children, Australia's largest aid and development agency dedicated to helping children. The team sorted and packed boxes, ready to support stores across greater Sydney. It was inspiring to hear firsthand about the impactful work being done, from the organisation’s founding by Eglantyne Jebb in 1919 right through to the ongoing commitment to children's rights. Optus published the 25th annual Sustainability Report, which details the work undertaken for the last financial year across our six focus areas: climate action, sustainable innovation, circular economy, future of work, digital enablement and equity and inclusion. Over the last 12 months we have made significant progress to collectively reduce our shared environmental impact and make positive contributions to the community. Some highlights at a glance: ️💕 $31.3m in total community contributions through charitable donations and workplace fundraising, employee volunteer hours and the donation of products. ♻️ Guaranteeing 85% of our packaging is recyclable, reusable or compostable across approximately 300 Optus-branded products. 💻 Celebrating 10 years of our national Digital Thumbprint Program, which has educated over 620,000 students on digital safety since 2013. 🌳 Continuing to work towards our commitment of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, which has been brought forward five years earlier from 2050. Optus and #Nokia Set Global Speed Record! 💨   We’re excited to share that Optus, in collaboration with Nokia, set new speed record over critical long-haul fibre network:   🔹 World First: Optus and Nokia set a speed record on Optus’ operational long-haul fibre network, achieving 1.1 Terabit per second over 405Km (Sydney to Canberra).   🔹Asia-Pacific First: Conducted a successful field trial of one Terabit per second over 1,050Km on Optus' operational long-haul fibre network (Sydney to Melbourne).   These achievements not only showcases our commitment to innovation but also enhances our capability to support advanced technologies and high-volume #data needs across Australia.
