The possibility of eliminating cervical cancer represents a pivotal moment in women's healthcare. We stand firmly behind WHO's global strategy and applaud their leadership in making cervical cancer elimination an achievable goal. Read the article below for more on "90-70-90" targets, goals that show us exactly what's possible when we combine collective will with medical innovation. As WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasizes, this historic initiative marks the first time we have the tools and global commitment to eliminate a cancer entirely. This milestone opportunity to eliminate a cancer demands our continued attention and advocacy. We join the advocates worldwide who have rallied behind this unprecedented opportunity and crucial initiative that could save hundreds of thousands of lives annually. Success stories from countries like Rwanda and Bhutan prove that with determination and proper resources, we can achieve life-saving goals regardless of a nation's economic status. Together with partners worldwide, we'll continue advocating for expanded access to HPV vaccines, screening, and treatment - because every woman deserves access to these life-saving tools. 🔗https://lnkd.in/gFE5XUJh #CervicalCancerElimination #WomensHealth #GlobalHealth

🎉 Great news! 🙌 The ANCCA research paper on "Towards elimination of cervical cancer - human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and cervical cancer screening in Asian National Cancer Centers Alliance (ANCCA) member countries" has been selected as a runner up for the 2024 APEC Healthy Women, Healthy Economies Research Prize. This accomplishment is from the team of Dr Ong Sok King and Brunei Darussalam who conducted a regional collaborative study on cervical cancer indicators and the barriers to HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening. Scotland's monumental health milestone: Zero new cervical cancer cases reported among those HPV vaccinated at ages 12-13. This breakthrough, stemming from decades of research culminating in the HPV vaccine, marks a significant stride in women's health. Research & Impact: Developed from the pioneering work of Dr. Ian Frazer and others, the vaccine has dramatically reduced cervical cancer, once claiming over 250,000 lives yearly, now largely preventable. HealthTech Triumph: This success story demonstrates how healthtech investment turns science fiction into reality. A killer disease has now become largely preventable. Stories like this make me so excited about the the innovators that HealthCap Africa is backing across the continent and the impact they will create. #HealthTech #HPVVaccine #CervicalCancerPrevention

✨ On this #CervicalCancerAwarenessMonth, let’s reflect on an inspiring session dedicated to eliminating HPV-related cancers in Europe, held during the 6th #EuropeanCancerForum in #Brussels, hosted by MSD and partners last December. This session highlighted the urgency of implementing Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan (#EBCP) and its flagship initiative on HPV. Key discussions centred around: 🔍 The vital role of robust data monitoring in primary and secondary prevention, 📈 Strategies to boost prevention and screening uptake. The session concluded with a powerful call to action to policymakers: 🎯 Support building and sustaining trust among the public and healthcare professionals, 🎯 Develop tailored strategies to address the specific needs of individual countries, 🎯 Prioritize prevention by making data-driven decisions that ensure adequate interventions. #CervicalCancer #HPV #Europe

Why should any woman lose her life to cervical cancer when it’s preventable? A recent APAC Women’s Health Survey by Roche revealed a startling reality in India: 72% of women aged 25-50 have never undergone cervical cancer screening. Even more concerning, 1 in 3 women skip screening because they feel nothing is wrong!!! This must change! After I joined Roche Diagnostics India, Neighbouring Markets I learnt that cervical cancer can be prevented with simple steps—vaccinate young girls and protect women over 30 years with HPV testing every 5 years. I am taking a pledge to spread this awareness and to encourage every woman I know to get screened. It’s time to protect our mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. World Health Organization data reveals that #CervicalCancer is the fourth most common cancer among women. Sadly, the highest rates of incidence and mortality are in LMICs fueled by variable factors among which include lack of access to HPV vaccination, cervical screening and treatment services and social and economic determinants. Despite all this, cervical cancer can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage and treated promptly. January is cervical cancer awareness month and this week particularly, focuses on raising awareness about cervical cancer screening and prevention. Screening, alongside vaccination, can save countless lives by detecting early signs and enabling timely treatment. #CervicalCancer #Screening #Vaccination #WomensHealth #Prevention #EarlyDetection #HealthAwareness #SaveLives #CancerPrevention #IndiaHealth.
When respected philanthropists and Rajya Sabha members like Sudha Murty raise the issue of #cervical #cancer in Parliament, it is sure to raise awareness to save women in #India from a deadly disease. My only request is that screening needs to be also emphasised along with vaccination. #Screening can detect early signs, and cervical cancer can actually be prevented or treated early. Australia has created a groundbreaking and inspiring blueprint to combat Cervical Cancer, and India can learn much from it. Australia is on track to eradicate cervical cancer by 2035. And while it is a great success story, it also underscores the perseverance required for such an endeavor. Beginning with regular screening for women in 1991 and a mass vaccination program in 2007, Australia's constant and vigilant journey against cervical cancer has spanned almost three decades. Given India's large population, we must take ACTION NOW. Through CERVICHECK by Pragmatech Healthcare Solutions Pvt. Ltd., we plan to accelerate this process with at-home self-collection of cervical samples. It will alleviate the burden on overburdened hospitals and healthcare workers while adding comfort and convenience to women for a large-scale change. Coupled with mass awareness and a vaccination program, we can make India - #CervicalCancerMukhtBharat. Sources: https://lnkd.in/dsF6wHxH https://lnkd.in/d_mbepuE https://lnkd.in/dip6MCbT

3wIn Sudan, with the generous support of Mazaya Charity Organization, we have started the early detection project for cervical cancer, based on our full belief that there is always an opportunity to give those infected new hope and also to avoid infection through comprehensive awareness, because women are the foundation of the family and society, and because prevention is better than cure. We need support and assistance from everyone to cross to safety.
