Mechanical Engineers: they don't teach sketching in college. And you might be surprised that you don't need fancy tools to draw your ideas. You don't need an iPad. You don't need AR goggles. You don't need CAD models. You don't need special markers. You don't need special paper. Here's the tools I used in this sketch: Bic pen, copy paper, colored pencils. Get out there and draw! Think through your ideas with a pen. The ideas are the most important thing to explain, and the longer they stay in your head (waiting for the right tools) the longer they wait to be discussed, improved, and built. Here I'm exploring ideas for how to make a minimalist Utility Knife Blade holder. I know. .. there's a million of these on the market already. But I haven't found one that I like yet. So, I'm trying to design one that I do like. Spoiler alert: I don't like any of these yet... #sketchyengineering #design

We will begin a series of some of the drawings of the SolidWork design program. SolidWork is a program used to draw and design mechanical shapes and other engineering shapes. We will begin the journey of designing shapes in a very easy and simplified way. There will be some complex shapes and easy shapes in it. The topic will be completed by me uploading the drawings in the form Days, meaning the first day, the first week, and so on. Every day of the week there will be a complex drawing and other drawings will remain present in the link that will remain present. The link will be drawings for every day, with the drawings file in SolidWork format, so that if you want to modify the design, there is a specific drawing that needs a specific mechanical design. You want to simulate the drawing and run tests on it, and so on. I hope it will be a nice and easy series and the topic will be useful to you. I'm excited to share with you all my recent educational journey at the AutoCAD 2D Drafting & 3D Modeling class hosted by NF Engineering. This experience it's been an eye-opener, and I owe it all to our amazing tutor, Nazmi Ismail. His dedication and passion for teaching truly made this learning adventure exceptional! Here's what I've picked up in simple terms: 🏠 Floor Plan - Now I can create detailed, room-by-room plans. Perfect for designing homes, offices, and more! 🔌 M&E Plan - Merging Mechanical and Electrical plans. I'm now know how to make sure everything works smoothly. 📊 Schedules & Quantities - I've mastered how to keep track of what we need and when. It's like a shopping list for building! 🤣 📏 Layout, Scaling & Printing - I can now make sure my designs are the right size and ready to print. 🎨 Isometric Drawing - I've unlocked the method to turning 2D sketches into 3D visuals. 🔩 3D Mechanical Modeling - The ability to bring mechanical models to life in 3D is a skill that I'm excited to use in various engineering and design projects. 📐 Orthographic Drawing - This is the foundation of all engineering and design. I can now create detail drawings. I want to give a big shoutout to Nazmi Ismail for being such an awesome teacher. I'm ready to put these skills to work and make cool stuff happen! Here's a breakdown of my most recent failure at work: I was asked to look into how to make some specific AutoCAD drawing sets update parametrically. It was a total failure… as it turns out, despite lots of parametric features, AutoCAD is still a 2D drawing software, and parametrically constraining 3D parts just doesn’t work. I concluded this after many hours of research, trying different ideas, and experimentation. Here’s the main takeaway: As an engineer, I hate to admit defeat. For some reason, I think I can figure anything out. But occasionally, you have to throw in the towel, and that’s OK.
