🚀 SFU VentureLabs and Diversity Institute wrapped up the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Web Series, and it was a success! 🌟 This three-part series discussed the powerful use of the Diversity Assessment Tool (DAT), unraveled the complexities of unconscious bias and microaggressions, and dived into the current landscape of women in the workplace.💡
We invited speaker Dr. Wendy Cukier, Founder and Director of the Diversity Institute to discuss the importance of using inclusive language in the workplace. She noted that addressing microaggressions within your team and implementing solutions for change can ensure an inclusive and respectful environment.
Leading the second and third sessions was Nancy Mitchell, Research Director at the Diversity Institute, who shared how leaders can be more inclusive. She noted that EDI skills are crucial in these roles, therefore leaders should model inclusive behaviors. These actions can show respect and inclusivity within the workplace.
We hope that this web series helped entrepreneurs, business leaders, and EDI enthusiasts come together to explore the profound impact of embracing diversity and inclusion within the fabric of businesses. Let’s continue to amplify these impactful conversations and support each other in cultivating an inclusive workplace environment. 🌐
