GivingPi Members Ajay and Brinda Upadhyaya, Founders of Upadhyaya Foundation, are spearheading an initiative in collaboration with GivingPi Member, Pragya Kapoor’s Ek Saath - The Earth Foundation and The Welfare of Stray Dogs (WSD). This impactful partnership aims to address the welfare of street dogs on Elephanta Island by tackling overpopulation at its root while ensuring their health and safety. The first phase of the sterilization drive is already underway. WSD’s team has successfully sterilized a number of dogs, who were cared for at the WSD Centre in Sewri, Mumbai, before being safely returned to the island. Building on this progress, more dogs are now under their care, marking the start of a sustainable, long-term solution for the island’s stray dog population. Rimjhim Joshi Shende has turned her passion for helping street dogs into a thriving business called 'Pawsitivity.' What began as a simple desire to improve the lives of stray dogs has evolved into a successful venture that produces affordable reflective and QR-enabled collars. These collars not only enhance the safety of street dogs by making them visible at night but also include QR codes that help reunite lost pets with their owners. Through Pawsitivity, Rimjhim is also committed to empowering women in her community by providing them with meaningful employment opportunities. Many women, who might otherwise struggle to find work, are now involved in the production of these collars, gaining skills and financial independence. The initiative has gained popularity for its dual focus on animal welfare and women's empowerment. By creating a product that addresses both issues, Rimjhim has fostered a sense of community while making a significant impact on the safety of stray animals. Pawsitivity is not just about profits; it’s about creating positive change in society. With this innovative approach, Rimjhim Joshi Shende is setting an inspiring example of how one person's vision can lead to a successful business that benefits both animals and people. #moneymint #pawsitivity #empowerment #welfare #community #safety #strays #collars #indore #women #animals #awareness

Ancient India's NGOs? Yes! Long before modern organizations, ancient India had self-sustaining welfare systems that served communities just like today’s NGOs: 🔹 Shrenis (Guilds) – Supported workers, regulated trade, and funded public welfare. 🔹 Buddhist & Jain Sanghas – Ran hospitals, schools, and free food centers. 🔹 Temples & Pathshalas – Provided education, shelter, and social services. 🔹 Dharma Mahamatras (Ashoka’s Welfare Officers) – Promoted public health, animal rights & ethical living. 🔹 Annasatras (Free Food Centers) – Ensured no one went hungry. Ancient wisdom, modern impact! How can we revive these models for today’s social good? #NGOs #AncientIndia #SocialImpact #SustainableDevelopment

#change can't be done in isolation, nor alone. Since the time, I have started working in #nonprofit sector, one thing that I have realized is, #positiveimpact for the #society can only be done when all the #stakeholders come in together to initiate and implement #lastingbehaviours for the #welfare of the #community, including animals. It is everyone's responsibility. Not just #government, not just #organizations but each one of us ! #Learnings #Experience #Socialwelfare

Normalize talking about fostering shelter animals ALL of the time! It's just as critical as adoption - moreso even as adoption commitment slows and foster is a more accessible option (AND has the added benefit of gather the only in-home info you may have on a sheltered pet). Check out the link for easy (read FREE & accessible) ways to make small shifts to deliver BIG impact! https://lnkd.in/grucgenV

🐕 Adopting a dog from a shelter or rescue organization offers numerous benefits over purchasing one from a breeder. Here is a reason to consider adoption: Saving a Life ❤️ Reducing Overpopulation: Shelters often operate at or beyond capacity, and by adopting, you help alleviate the overcrowding problem, giving another dog a chance at a loving home. Preventing Euthanasia: Unfortunately, some shelters are forced to euthanize dogs due to lack of space or resources. Adoption can directly contribute to saving a life. #rescue #dog #adoption

Did you know? 🐶🐱 According to Pet Welfare (2024), there are approximately 100,000 adoptable and treatable dogs and cats that are euthanized in pounds and shelters every year. By fostering or adopting, you give them a second chance. ❤️ Why Foster? Helps Shelters: Reduces overcrowding. 🏠🐾 Temporary Commitment: Great if you’re not ready for a permanent pet. 🐕 Socialization: Makes animals more adoptable. 🐈🏡 Personal Fulfillment: Experience the joy of making a difference. 🥰 Read our recent Chooseday blog for recommendations on how to support. https://wix.to/4t6OSgQ Let’s open our hearts and homes to animals in need. 🏡 #ChooseToFoster #AdoptDontShop #AnimalRescue #Chooseday 🌟
