Just found this great report by GivingTuesday 💙 ... 💬 "...We predict that an additional 7% of respondents would have responded generously to solicitation if they had been asked recently." This proves the old Fundraising cliché, "No. 1 Reason why someone hasn't given to your organization -- Because they were not asked..." I would also add to this: Make the ask! Broadcast Texting 📲 (Upland Mobile Commons) can communicate 📣 your message with timing, ease and most importantly personalization. Prompting your subscribers to engage 💪, advocate 🗯 and GIVE 💸 -- to your organization. 📈 What if a SMS Program could add 7% more to your current campaigns? What could your mission do with a 7% increase?! #nonprofit #Fundraising #SMS #Texting #outreach #Marketing #development #advocacy

Fidelity Charitable® recently published its 2024 Giving Report, focused on #donoradvisedfunds. As the largest sponsor in the country, Fidelity's data provides good insight into the #DAF landscape. To whet your appetite, here are three findings that we are excited about: 1. Topline, DAF giving continues to rise. Fidelity distributed $11.8 billion, a 5% increase from 2022, to 199K organizations. 2. It is a misconception to believe that the primary reason donors give through DAFs is to remain anonymous. Only 4% of Fidelity's DAF holders ask for anonymity. 3. Funds are flowing. Fidelity's analysis shows that within 5-years of contributing into a DAF, 76% of funds have been distributed to nonprofits, and within 10-years, 89% has been granted. With less than a week to go, don’t forget to join us for our webinar ‘Philanthropy Advice: Is Your Knowledge Meeting Client Needs?’ on the 19th April from 12:00-1:00pm! Recent research from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) revealed a strong interest among high-net-worth individuals, particularly younger generations, in assistance with charitable giving. More than half of 18-34 year-old high-net-worth clients said an adviser could help with their philanthropy. However, a separate CAF study found that only 5% of advisers are ‘very confident’ discussing philanthropy. As a financial adviser, how well are you meeting this demand? Join this webinar to explore opportunities to provide advice, build client relationships, and stay ahead of the competition by offering innovative and trustworthy giving solutions for your clients. November and December tend to be the time of year where people focus their efforts on financial philanthropy. Many have an idea of where they want their funds to go, but others may take more time in making that decision. Donor-Advised Funds allow you to make a contribution today and benefit from the tax deduction while maintaining the ability to make informed choices on where the funds are distributed. Donor-Advised Funds are also a great way to teach your children, both adolescent and adult about the power of generosity within your community. Bringing your children into the decision on how funds are distributed is a great way for children to learn about the missions of local or national charities and learn what missions ignite their passion. RBC has a great insight piece on how to navigate the complexities of Donor-Advised Funds to ensure that the philanthropic mission is carried out. If you have any questions about how Donor-Advised Funds can be used strategically while supporting your mission, please don't hesitate to reach out to me to discuss in more detail.

A staggering stat in that headline -- DAFs (donor-advised funds) accounted for nearly $52 billion in charitable gifts, almost 10% of all giving. Five years ago many of us working in comms and advancement had barely heard of DAFs. As the number and size of these funds keeps growing it is crucial that you put information on your support pages about how DAFs can send you a gift and develop a strategy for working with these donors and funds. And with the stock market up ~20% in 2024 and more than 33% in the past 12 months, many high-net-worth people who are potential major donors will be making stock transfers into their DAFs before the end of 2024 for tax reasons, setting up the potential for even more gifts in future years.

Nonprofits, make sure to integrate Planned Giving with Annual Giving! Here are three effective strategies to get started: 1. Educate Your Donors: Inform your donors about diverse giving options. For those at retirement age, highlight the advantages of the IRA Charitable Rollover. 2. Active Listening: During donor interactions, pay attention to the hints they drop about their preferred giving methods. If they mention supporting multiple charities, introduce the concept of a donor-advised fund. Tailoring suggestions to their interests can lead to more meaningful contributions. 3. Combine Messaging: Leverage your existing communications to include information about planned gifts. Share stories of donors who have included legacy gifts in their wills. This not only educates but also inspires others to think long-term. By integrating planned giving with your annual campaigns, you open the door to lasting impact and sustainable growth. #PlannedGiving #NonprofitStrategy #LegacyImpact #Nonprofits #Fundraising2024 #ChangeMakers
