I think it is time to write about the Project that I am implementing in a team with Igor Storchak, Galyna Chos, Yevheniia Kozyr, #HannaStepanenko, together with Olena Melnyk and Mariana Melnykovych in the framework of #CASRebuildUkraine, organised by Berner Fachhochschule BFH.
The name of the project #RemediationOfAgrarianLandsOfUkraine" very much reflects the goal we have in mind.
In Ukraine there are more than 50 thousand square kilometres of agrarian land affected by hostilities.
Of course, first of all, it is necessary to survey such lands by humanitarian demining operators (including such as FSD (Fondation suisse de déminage), Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), Global Clearance Solutions (GCS), #HKGroup) and, if necessary, to demine them.
But after this, it is necessary to be sure that these lands are safe to use for growing food from an ecological point of view.
And this is the main goal of the Project - to survey all agrarian lands of Ukraine affected by military actions and, in case of revealing the need for remediation measures, to help in this directly to land users.
Important components of the Project:
- expand the range of persons who can take soil samples (including through the involvement of specialists with expertise in humanitarian demining operators)
- utilise the potential of the best laboratories to obtain the maximum in-depth expertise of the samples obtained
- obtaining expert opinion on the possibility of land use and what remediation activities are necessary to restore soils (incl. from producers of soil remedies)
- making all information important for the Project beneficiaries and stakeholders publicly available through online maps.
The project is implemented by the Berner Fachhochschule BFH , ETH Zürich , Royal Agricultural University (UK), Сумський національний аграрний університет (Sumy National Agrarian University).
The main partners and stakeholders of the Project from the side of Ukraine are #MinistryOfEconomy and #MinistryOfAgrarianPolicyAndFood.
Laboratories and experts from Switzerland, Great Britain, European Union and Ukraine participate in the Project.
The Ukrainian humanitarian demining operator #HKGroup has already confirmed its participation in the Project. The possibility of engaging deminers for sampling is being worked out with this company.

we will be happy to answer all your questions.
I would be grateful if you would share this information among your friends, acquaintances, colleagues. Maybe among them there are those who are just now looking for such a project in order to participate in it.
