In 2022, three-quarters of the global population aged 15 to 24 were using the Internet. As "digital natives", young people are leading the charge in the digital innovations that are transforming the world and offering unprecedented opportunities to accelerate sustainable development and advance the Sustainable Development Goals. The role youth plays in driving change and creating solutions is nowhere more apparent than in educational settings and we are proud that our member schools are all bustling hubs of activity in which young people are encouraged and supported to adopt digital technologies and innovate with them for the betterment of society. Young people can play a key role in building a more sustainable, peaceful and just future using technology to drive change and create solutions. #YouthDay #IYD24

International Youth Day is a reminder of the incredible potential of young people as catalysts for positive change. Young people aged 15 to 24 are often at the forefront of embracing new changes, and public transportation is no exception. As digitalization continues to shape our world, there has been a notable increase in the use of shared mobility services, particularly by young people who may either lack access to a private vehicle or actively choose not to use one. Transport planning can often overlook young people’s views and needs, so as an industry, how can we better enable youth mobility? #InternationalYouthDay #YouthDay24 #SustainableDevelopment

The global theme of this year's International Youth Day challenges us to consider how we can harness the power of digital technologies to forge pathways for sustainable development. But what does it mean to move "From Clicks to Progress"? It means recognizing that every digital interaction has the potential to create real-world impact. It means understanding that behind every click, every swipe, every line of code, there is an opportunity to build a more sustainable, equitable, and peaceful world. In Rwanda we have seen firsthand the transformative power of youth-led digital innovation: - Young communicators are using digital platforms to amplify important social messages and drive behavioral change. - Innovative recruitment practices are leveraging technology to create more inclusive workplaces and economic opportunities. - Digital initiatives are preserving our history and promoting reconciliation, ensuring that the lessons of our past guide us towards a brighter future. These examples embody both our themes – they show how clicks translate to progress and how youth are leading digital change to solve global issues. However, as we celebrate these achievements, we must also acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead. The digital divide remains a significant barrier, with many still lacking access to the tools and skills needed to participate fully in the digital economy. Issues of cybersecurity, digital rights, and ethical use of technology demand our attention and action.
